Recap:
If Pricklebush thinks he's going to be leader, it isn't going to work, Foxtail thought irritably. We'll get Lithestar back before he'll even be able to step foot in her den.
CHAPTER 5
Foxtail's P.O.V.
Foxtail was, surprisingly, called by Pricklebush into Lithestar's den. Many warriors were gathered, and Foxtail picked a place beside his brother.
"We're all here," Pricklebush grumbled. "And now it's time for plans to get Lithestar back."
Foxtail's ears perked up. "Now, this is what I'm thinking. Foxtail, Batpaw, and Gorgerock can go to the rogue camp and ask for a trade." He turned to Foxtail and Gorgerock. "You listen to whatever they need. Whether it's herbs or territory. We need Lithestar back if we are going to be forced to go into battle with them."
"Why are we bringing Batpaw?" Gorgerock asked, narrowing his eyes.
"So maybe they'll be a bit less mean if they know a young cat is there too." Foxtail thought that the rogue camp wouldn't care, but he ignored the thought anyway.
"When do we do this?" Fleetheart, another warrior, asked.
"Now," Pricklebush meowed. "We need to do this as soon as possible."
~~~
Foxtail padded beside Batpaw, who looked completely lost without Harefleet. The ginger tom flicked the sleek black one's ear playfully.
"Hey, we need to be serious about this," Gorgerock growled.
"We're not even there yet, calm down," the ginger tom replied smoothly. Gorgerock looked annoyed as they kept walking through SkyClan territory. Finally, they reached the border, and Foxtail heard Batpaw take a deep breath.
Wait, he thought. Batpaw is five-and-a-half-moons old... Should we really be doing this?
He knew there was no going back now as they continued to the rogue camp. Suddenly, rogue cats attacked them from all sides, and Batpaw yelped.
"Ah," a dark brown tabby tom smirked and cackled. "More SkyClanners, eh? Let's show em' to Fang."
Foxtail's eyes went cold, but he forced the fur on his back to lie flat. Fang? Am I thinking about Fangheart? He cleared his head. No. It can't be... Or can it? I don't know! Before Fangheart even joined SkyClan, I heard he was called Fang. Is it really him?
Of course not, Foxtail, another voice scolded him in his head. He's dead, you watched him die, remember?
Foxtail was a bit claustrophobic, and these cats holding them in like pieces of prey didn't help. His heart beat faster as they neared the camp, and they brought the three SkyClan cats inside.
Foxtail couldn't spot Lithestar, but he sure spotted and smelled rogues. He finally noticed a golden tabby she-cat stick her head out of a den, her green eyes widening. Lithestar! Foxtail silently cheered. She's really here!
A black tom sat outside of a rocky den, and his green eyes narrowed at Gorgerock, Batpaw, and Foxtail. Suddenly, a gray tom with blue eyes exited the den, leaping down.
It's Fangheart—no, Fang! Foxtail felt like the world around him was crashing down. He's alive? What? How?!
"Welcome," Fang smirked, ticking his claws as he sat down, wrapping his thin tail around his paws. "What brings SkyClanners over here?" The gray tom paused. "Looking for their precious leader?"
Gorgerock took a step forward, and Batpaw cowered behind Foxtail. He gave the young apprentice a sympathetic glance before returning it to the leader, a cat he had once known all too well.
"Yes, we are," Gorgerock began, fluffing out his light tan fur. "We'd like to make a trade."
The rogues around them exchanged glances, and Fang narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "What kind of trade?" He asked.
"A trade. Anything you want in exchange for our leader."
Fang smiled as the black tom leaped down, his gaze raking over the SkyClanners. "Puma, come here," Fang said to the black tom.
He whispered something in Puma's ear, and Puma nodded suddenly. Both of the tom's eyes whirled to Batpaw, and Foxtail took a step forward. "Now wait just a minute—"
"No, you can take him," Gorgerock finally said. Fang nodded to Puma, who stalked around and grabbed the poor apprentice, taking him back into the crowd of rogues.
"Now, Lithestar," Foxtail growled.
Fang laughed menacingly. "Mouse-brains. We never actually agreed to the trade. But we do thank you for both Lithestar and... Err.."
"You don't get to even know his name," Foxtail snarled. "We have to have Lithestar!"
"Very well," Fang closed his eyes. "What's his name."
"And you'll give us Lithestar?" Foxtail asked. Fang didn't reply and Foxtail kept his jaws shut, until Gorgerock told him.
"Batpaw. His name is Batpaw."
You idiot! Foxtail thought, striking a glare toward the light tan tom. He just spoiled everything!
"Now, Lithestar?" Gorgerock asked, blinking at the leader.
"Well that's all too bad, but thanks for giving us his name." Fang smirked. "Take them out of here. We don't want SkyClan stench reeking up our camp even more."
Gorgerock's jaw dropped and Foxtail squirmed against the rogue's grips. He took one last look at the fearful Batpaw and horrified Lithestar, the love of his life, and with a sigh of pity was "escorted" out of the camp.
"ToxicClan will win!" Fang yowled. "Nothing can stop us now!"
Sorry for the late update, I've been busy. Hope ya enjoyed!
