The night was cool and crisp. The wind roaring high over the mountains. Kyler was passing back and forth, Isabelle trying to comfort him, while Cassie and Elena sat in on the stairs. "What do you think will happen sis?" Elena asked, her long brown hair was covering up most of her face. "I don't know Lena. But one day, when this is all over, we will be reunited and happy. No more Skeepers to defend and we will have a big house. I nice big house, with unicorns and princess' and endless amounts of chocolate cake." "Endless?" Elena's small chubby face brightened in excitement. "Endless," Cassie said, Elena sat on Cassie's lap while Cassie hummed a lullaby. "When this is all over."

Cassie woke to the sound of the ocean. She slept on a low hammock, blankets were covering her. Her hair was sticking to her lips and she felt disgusting. On the edge of the hammock were navy blue sweatpants and a long grey t-shirt. The air was humid and smelled of the ocean as Cassie emerged from the cozy hammock. She was still wearing the dress that Iris had given her which was now covered in soot and dried blood. Cassie undressed and put on the pajamas and placed her hair in 2 messy braids.

Cassie turned to see James, fast asleep on another hammock across the shack. He was passed out. Hair messy, arm draped over one side of the hammock, which was full of cuts and bruises from Brickle and Stan, and drool seeping from his mouth. Cassie laughed to herself and looked outside. She didn't know where they were, she didn't remember anything since she sat in the car beside James and they drove away from the Anderson mansion.

The wind picked up, Cassie put up a soar arm to block the sun from her eyes. The beach was deserted and lonely. "It's beautiful." Cassie said to no one in particular. Lena would have loved this. "Lena..." Cassie said aloud.

Cassie remembered bits and pieces of her sister and family but it still didn't add up. Why had she lost her memory, how could she get it back, where is her family? Cassie's head started spinning. She thought of the night before the dinner party, about the dream she has about the twins in the middle of the woods, calling to her. Cassie turned back, her feet starting to burn from the scorching hot sand beneath.

James had woken up much later than Cassie. He mumbled a groggy g'morning. Cassie nodded and was about to speak about to speak. She had a million questions that needed to be answered, but she didn't know where to begin.

"What you did, in the room I mean, with Brickle and Stan was brilliant." James nudged her in the stomach while they ate some bacon and eggs. "I bet it was." Cassie replied.

"You don't remember anything, nothing at all?"

Cassie shook her head. They sat in a silence that seemed to last ages but Cassie spoke at last, "Where are we?" The real question she was dying to ask. "Hideout," James replied, "My sisters Victoria and Ruby would come here with me all the time. We would camp out here, eat s'mores, and tell stories." James smiled to himself, but it vanished, "That was until my mom was killed by Raptors, Victoria went looking for them, and Ruby...well she was the only optimistic one after mom's death. I woke up one morning and Ruby was gone. I don't know where she went..." His voice trailed, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Cassie leaned her head on his shoulder, he put his head on top of hers as they ate the last of their breakfast and watched the quite waves swish by.

Cassie finally fully energized, organized a backpack full of the things she needed. There was some extra clothes that used to be Victoria's and Ruby's lying around. A few dresses, shirts, pants, and shoes were stuffed into the bag. She placed a blanket, a canteen of water, a pocket knife, and a map. She needed to find those twins, she had to , they had to be important. But how?

James began a fire that night, they had not talked all afternoon and James looked extremely tired, bags illuminated his eyes. "Thank you." Cassie said. James looked up, confused. "For saving my ass for the millionth time." James laughed, but Cassie didn't. "Cass, I didn't save you, you saved me. I would have been the next dinner if it wasn't for you. I owe you one." Cassie smiled and threw a log into the fire that was roaring into the sky.
