 Chapter Two:

“Weeeee!” I cheered happily as I slid down my incredibly long staircase.

“Morning Miss Belle” greeted one of the staff.

“Morning Sam!” I greeted back. “Well, I’m leaving! See you guys later.” I did a mock-salute and skipped out the front door.

“I am sixteen going on seventeen.. nanana nana” I hummed under my breath. It was only my humming and the clickity-clack of my shoes that I could hear. See in my neighborhood, we have this unspoken and unofficial rule of needing to be quiet and refined all the time. It’s really boringgg.

I skipped through my drive way opting to sing Jesse McCartney’s song, “Just another day, started out like any other.” opening up my bag of breakfast and grabbing a tart. “Just another girl who took my breath away, then she turned around. She took me down, just another day that I ....Had the best day of my life” I bit my tart, chewing sloppily and stashed it back into the paper bag.

I ran out our front lawn, after each step I took I felt the soft drops of rain hit me. The pitter-patter of my feet echoed in the air, while my breaths came out as white smoke. By the time I had entered my car my hair and clothes were damp, and it started to feel chilly in the car.

I rubbed my arms lightly and stared out my window, as the car slowly exited my home. Eli my driver, quietly reached for something in the front seat, leaving me wondering what must be so important that he insisted to look for while driving. I mean I trust the guy, but I could trust him only so much. Shortly after watching him fumble around, a hand appeared in front of me holding soft wool sweater. I scooted closer and said a quick thank you to Eli and clutched the sweater in my own hands.

So this is what he was looking for, how sweet. I blushed, feeling shame pass through my body for thinking badly about Eli. He had handed me an off-white sweater that was 3 sizes bigger than me, it was probably his. I brought it up to my nose and sniffed it. It smelled like hot chocolate and cookies. I silently wondered what brand of comforter he bought and where he bought it. I shrugged out of my blazer and slipped on the sweater. The sweet scent of cookies and hot chocolate filled my nose; I snuggled into the sweater and smiled contentedly looking out the window.

The soft rapping of rain drops lulled me to sleep. A fleeting thought passed my mind before I fell into unconsciousness ‘I should ask Eli where he bought his comforter. Grfrhnk.’

“Belle, you need to get up. We’re here.” Eli murmured in my ear.

“Wah? Garfunkel? Tell him I’ll talk to him tomorrow.” I shifted and felt something hot on my face.

I heard him chuckle softly. “Belle, wakie-wakie!” he persisted.

“Hmm... Jesse (McCartney) is that you? Have you finally come for me?” I grabbed on to Jesse’s shoulders and leveled my face to his.

I blinked the sleep out of my eyes so I could see Jesse better. “Jesse? Why aren’t you saying anything?” I grasped his face in my hands and looked into what I believed was his eyes.

“Uh, you’re not Jesse.” Sure enough I was face to face with Eli, the par time chauffer/college student. Wow he’s got nice eyes. My favorite color too, green. I wonder why I never noticed. Sigh.

“Yeah, I know. Coz I’m pretty sure my parents named me Eli.” He said grinning boyishly at me. “You can check my driver’s license if you don’t believe me.”

“ah, um, you, I, ahm, uh, huh?” I had fully woken up when I realized I was still holding Eli’s face in my hands. What was I doing holding his face in the first place?! GYAH! Quick ABBY! RELEASE!
