"Lia, I swear I'm gonna break this door if you don't come out!" Evan threatened.
But Lia was adamant." No, no, NO. Not in a million freaking years."
" Lia, you're really driving me nuts here!" Evan called out exasperated. He was only greeted by silence.
"Okay, so you wanna play? Ready or not, here I come!" Evan called out in a playful tone.
Oh, by the way, they were in the mall.
After that theatrical "running into each other" part in the morning, Evan took Lia to his house, so that he could change out of his running gear into regular clothes. Lia refused to come inside.
Then, they went to a nearby "Starbucks", where Lia ordered a hot chocolate and Evan took a decaffeinated coffee. After that, merrily seeping their steamy cup of coffee they made their way to the mall, because Lia had made the confession, with much embarrassment, that she did not own any proper clothes. This made Evan drag her to the mall.
Lia did not know whether to hug him for that or rent a chainsaw and slice his hands and head off.
Anyways, Evan dragged her straight to a shop whose name Lia didn't even bother to know. It had these fancy dresses and outfits, God knew how much those cost.
Evan immediately grabbed a satin black sleeveless wrap dress. Its material was so soft that Lia wanted to cuddle with it all day. Her luck (as usual and obviously) was crappy and Evan made her try it out.
Now, back to the present, Lia literally wanted to rip Evan's hands off and feed it to his head and rip his head off and feed it to the hell-hounds.
Evan's footsteps were audible as he made his way to the door. Lia put on the dress all right, but did not want anyone to see her. Panicking, she tried to jam the door with her foot but Evan threw open the door.
His reaction and facial reaction made Lia double over with laughter. His eyes had popped out off his sockets and his jaw had dropped to the floor. His breath caught as he stood there. Lia was clutching the stitch on her sides as she tried to calm herself down, but she peeked at his expression again, which was hilarious, and started laughing again.
( Imagine that expression on Mike Wazowski above on a handsome six foot guy and now imagine him closing his mouth and then opening them and then closing them again as an attempt to talk but only gurgles coming out. Yes, that's exactly how Evan looked, only a thousand times more hilarious)
She started snorting with laughter when Evan recovered from his state.
"Wow, Lia."Evan stuttered out. If it wasn't for the fact that Evan's eyes were still bulging, Lia probably would have blushed. Instead she settled on stopping her laughter and turning towards the wall mirror.
Lia did look pretty good, if she said so herself. The wrap dress hugged her curves quite flatteringly. She had an athletic body which was developed over the years through swimming and jogging. Her black hair swept over one shoulder and reached her back. The satin black color made her green eyes stand out.
Behind her, on the mirror, she could still see Evan goggling at her. "What?' Lia asked softly.
"Nothing, um, actually can I ask you something?" Evan asked tentatively.
"Sure."
Evan was still staring at her with those onyx eyes through the mirror, but now he made direct eye contact.
"How come you are single?"
Lia's heart froze with panic. She recalled that night when the " incident" occurred, suspecting Evan knew something about that night. But she coaxed her heart into resuming its normal pace.
"I don't know, Evan." Lia lied, her heart crushing with the guilt of having to lie to him.
They kept on staring at each other. The energy in the room was getting so intense that it was almost palpable, when suddenly somebody coughed. It was the store helper, who looked pointedly at them. Evan immediately excused himself and made his way out of the room, rather awkwardly.
The helper smirked at Lia, who then gave up and unmasked the blushing smile she had been hiding all this time.
