it were midnight now. and the girl with the frosty fingertips no longer suffered from their coldness, and was tucked comfortably underneath her denim jacket. it werent much to keep her warm. she lay in a fetal position with the collar of the jacket covering her mouth, and the end touching just her hip. but with the fire still alive, she were warm.

Ryon were still awake to make sure that would happen. tossing more of the firewood into the flames, he glanced over to her sleeping physique. he were hoping she were having sweeter dreams than reality, and what this cruel world threw onto her. but it only happens to the strongest of people.

his eyes were hers for quite a while. even though her dorsal were facing him, he thought she only seemed peaceful and at solitude. even though she were resting, this was when she were at her best. and Ryon enjoyed that. amber eyes looked away, finally, and toward the burning embers. his ears only focused on the crackling fog of the fireplace, until he heard tapping on the windowpane. quickly, he glanced to the southwest of him and tried peering amongst the frosty residue on the glass. narrowing his eyes, he leaned slightly toward the sound but could not make it out. standing from his natural sitting spot, he began his tread toward the mysterious rapping, but before he could ever completely make it to his destination a warmth grew behind him;

" what is it? " Kitta asked with a sleepy tone.

jumping from the sight of her voice, he turned completely around to greet the caked drool that resided upon her violet lips;

" i dont know. it could just be a branch or something. "

" or something? Prize, im hoping its a branch because if not, i am outtie, " crossing her arms in her denim jacket that once covered her torso when she lay asleep.

" okay, yeah, it's totally a branch. no need to worry, " chuckling nervously, "just go back to slee---"

and before he could ever finish, she inhaled a large gasp and flung herself toward the window. her eyes were peeled like a banana, as she stared upon this stary night. the deer boy turned toward the window once again and stood beside her as she were fixated on the neon lights that were appearing in the sky.

aurora borealis

chocolate oculars couldnt help but stare in wonder just as the miss that stood next to him. for the many years Ryon lived in Alaska, he had never seen such a thing in person. usually he were asleep at such times, and miss this great opportunity, but tonight; it were different. and he got to spend it with his best friend.

" let's go outside! " she cheered, grabbing ahold of his arm and out upon the deck that sit absent of snow due to the covering above it.

" for Gabellia's sake, it's freezing out here, " taking his wrist out of her grasp, and holding his arms.

" oh, but it is so beautiful! "

" it is, " looking to her as she then ran out from underneath the covering, and onto the thick blanket of snow. there were a light drizzle, the flakes falling evenly like they have been practicing for a moment like this. like the clouds were the conductors, the snow were the band, and the girl were a ballerina. and these lights were the audience as well as the boy who stood quietly, watching her dance along the snow. her boots stopped in the flakes, glaring up at the neon lights that came in green, and pink, and purple. it colored her dark, denim hair with a hue of a yellow-green;

" Ryon, come on! " turning toward him as he stood there with his palms on the broken railing to the cabin.

looking at her, he stepped away from the cedar fences, and toward her frame that stood near the bottom of the steps. she waited patiently for his presence to come near to hers, smiling up at his complexion;

" come frolic in the snow with me. that's what deers do, afterall, " stepping backwards from him with her ebony jeggings tucked into her hiking boots.

" arent you cold? " he asked, stepping toward her as she continued to pace backwards.

" kittens dont get cold, boy. " she winked playfully as she then turned around to face the trees before her.

" yeah, you wouldn't have said that a few hours ago with your frozen paws."

" hush it, " she stopped walking.

the boy stood behind her, as they now were standing further away from the temporary home and in the middle of a clearing that were nothing but snow;

" it's amazing out here, " he admitted, waiting for her to reveal her complexion. but she never did.

her fists curled up into their tight beings, as she shut her eyes almost as tight as her locked hands. just as Ryon were to touch her shoulder, she finally turned around to expose her pink tinted cheeks and nose;

" you okay? " he asked, with narrowed eyes.

" yeah-- you know, we should just go back inside, " grabbing ahold of her arm. truth is, she wanted to go back to sleep. she wanted to rest her eyes from any oncoming tears that she had known were reliable to be present in any second now.

the boy quickly took her hand, wrapping his cold appendages around her own cold ones. but at least they werent freezing. his other hand was busy at her waist, pulling her closely to his torso;

" you deserve a dance underneath this outgoing galaxy, " sharing his warmth with her small structure, and cold complexion. glazed iris' disappeared as she stared into his that shined green just as her locks did.

it were now thirty past twelve, and the two children could swear that those few minutes underneath the wonderful galaxy, were the best they could ever have.
