a memorable night in the deep snow only called for a resting at the fireplace. snow covered boots resided near the archway of the door, as well as the frosty converse of the boy laying nicely next to her shoes. it were a while until she could close her eyes and meet the once familiar face of her dreams, only due to the fact she had her first dance.
under the northern lights.
in the snow.
and without music.
she lay awake by the thought of how much perfect it could possibly get from the sweet experience of solitude.

but now it were dawn.

and she slept, and so did he. no matter if it took five minutes, or thirty, they rested next to eachother and was only greeted by the sound of whistling birds. warm hands touched her eyelids as he face away from her, curled up into a fetal position. for a moments time, she grew curious as to why he didn't sleep with his jacket, but soon her tired eyes awoke and saw that it were on top of her. covering almost every inch of her.
he must be freezing, she thought, and with that in mind she took the heavy coat off and gave it back to him as he slept;

" i dont want it, " mumbling to her as he lay awake with his eyes closed, pushing the material back over toward her.

" but im awake, and its yours. you should take it back, " glancing at his back that faced her.

" i am also awake. you need it more than i do, " finally rotating his body to look at her.

" this is the only warmth you have--"

" i have a grey jacket back at camp. we can go back there today. i'm sure theyre wondering where we went, anyways. "

with that, he sat up in his spot, feeling the cool atmosphere push through the clear windowpane. it were visible that there were no downfall at the moment, which made it a perfect time to head out. but it were freezing. and camp were a long ways away. Kitta sat up as well, grabbing ahold of his coat and slipping it onto her denim jacket that she had on; creating a warm layer of clothing. all Ryon had was a thin sweatshirt that weren't even warm enough in fifty degree weather, but in these parts of the forest it would drop to the negatives.
the boy kept calm as he stood in front of the miss, feeling as the crisp air caressed his cold complexion.

" they're going to be upset that we were gone for so long. i bet Mary has been worrying, she's my main squeeze. and we dont have any food, they're going to throw shame at us. "

" we can stop by the coyote on the way back, and grab some berries. no worries. and im sure Mary is fine, as well as the rest of the group. "

taking strides over to his leather converse, and slipping them on as she began to lace up her combat boots that provided better protection. retrieving his weapons, he placed the bow around his torso, and snapped the arrows onto his back once more. he almost felt like Kitta needed these arrows more, knowing how dangerous and unexpected wildlife can be. all she carried were a knife, but thankfully she sharpened the blade every night to keep it top knotch. straightening his frame, his doe eyes paired with hers as she stood from lacing up her boots. a sense of nervousness seemed to take over her stomach, taking a guess that it were due to the uncomfortable coldness that awaited them outdoors. taking his eyes from hers, the adolescent felt more confident knowing that she were a much warmer human being. her small stature needed more protection than him;

" Ready to go? "

he asked, looking down at her slightly as ebony eyes never failed him;

" Yes. I just want to get home. "

with that he turned around and grasped onto the door to open it, walking out first and holding the door open for Kitta without wasting any time trying to share a moment with her. placing the palm of her hand onto the door, she left the warm room of the cabin and now onto the snowy deck that almost ate her entire boot. it were chilly, but the abundance of the snow that took in rays of the sun kept her heart warm, and thats all she cared for. Ryon took large strides off the porch and into the much deeper areas of snow;

" Christ, there must've been a storm or something last night. Be careful through here, it's about a foot deep of pure ice and snow. "

" Thanks for the heads up. We should have worn those weird snow shoes. "

" Ha. The one's that look like tennis rackets? "

" That would be it. "

she laughed, creating a mental image through her cortex as the two treaded through the dense snow. It were something silly to be happy about, but she were enjoying herself. stopping in his tracks, the boy glanced at her as he waited for her to be welcomed to his side;

" I'm coming, I'm coming. I'm such a slow poke. "

" And you're the one with boots, too. Makes sense. "

" Leave me alone, Prize, kitty gotta keep her paws warm. "

" If that were so, how are you keeping your hands warm? "

for a moment she had to think of some clever come back as always, but it were almost impossible. she never thought about wearing gloves since they always made her hands sweat, which always caused them to have a unique aroma. a sigh parted her violet lips, looking up at him;

" I don't know. I never really thought about it. I don't have a heat source for my hands. "

" Here, "

with that, he found the rim of his sleeve, and peaked his hand out from it. lightly grasping onto her thin appendages, he held onto them as well as his eyes onto her dark ones;

" now all of your paws can be warm. "

finally finishing, as the cold air nipped her nose, and his security warmed her cheeks.
