⚔ The Right Way ⚔
Kayana hummed to herself as she separated the clothes before placing the darker pieces into the washer.
Picking up Vodia's now two-coloured shirt, Kayana sighed. She had nearly made a huge mistake revealing herself then. She couldn't do that to him right now. She saw the confusion in his eyes every time he caught himself remembering anything about her, and Kayana just wasn't ready to hurt him again.
But she still had to find a way to make everything up to Vodia.
What else could she do?
She placed the shirt into the machine and closed the lid. Pressing the buttons, Kayana turned around and leant on it as it began to shake.
She just needed him to remember the good times with her.
She needed to get him alone. But how?
At that moment Corin popped her head in, the rest of her body still behind the door as she smiled sneakily at Kayana. The latter glanced at her, an eyebrow raised under her scarf, until she heard heavier footsteps and Corin was pushed forward, the laundry in her arms now visible as Kallm stumbled in behind her.
"Sorry." Kallm smirked as Corin jerked her elbow in his direction. Atleast they were getting along.
"Just put it here." Kayana teased as she gestured to the counter.
Corin smiled at her as she hurriedly placed her load, and Kallm's, onto the spacious countertop.
"But I need something from you both too."
"Ji, Kayana?"
Kayana repeated her plan to the two then, not going into much detail, but just telling them that she wanted to have the evening to herself and Vodia. It was their job to take everyone out to dinner, at the excuse of wanting the families to get to know each other better.
Kayana also noticed that at the mention of the upcoming marriage, both Corin and Kallm had looked less nervous, almost a little pleased. And Kayana vowed to herself that she would help them any way that she could. But first they had to admit it to themselves.
⚔ The Right Way ⚔
Vodia looked at the time on his laptop. 10:42pm shone back at him as he yawned quietly into the back of his hand, before rubbing the bruised knuckles absentmindedly. Looking up over his screen he saw that the office looked pitch black, signalling that nearly everyone had gone home. Except him.
He could lie to himself about why he didn't want to go home, say that there was too much work to do, or that he really needed to be here. But even though he didn't want to admit it, he knew the truth. And it was because of that maid.
The thought shocked him into sitting upright. Why did he think it was the maid? Surely it was Raian, and consequently, the thought of Kayana which kept him up at night.
Right?
Slamming the screen shut, Vodia rested his forehead in his palms. Why was he really putting off going home?
Making a decision, Vodia began packing up, sliding his papers into his briefcase and grabbing his keys from the drawer. Slinging his jacket over his arm, Vodia stalked out of the office.
The drive seemed a blur to him and before he knew it, Vodia had arrived home, the schist pillars stood guarding the front door, and Vodia noticed that all lights were off. Checking his watch he realised it was past midnight. How long had he sat at his desk dreading coming back?
