Ed's P.O.V.
Okay, so yeah. I am singing Autumn Leaves, and so far the concert is going great. When I reach the chorus, then I notice something. I can hear a new voice screaming, but instead of screaming "ED I LOVE YOU!!!" Or something else like that, the voice is screaming in terror for help. I look down at the front row, where the girl who wasn't screaming before was screaming, and what I see nearly makes me stop singing altogether.

The girl that had been humming along just a moment ago was now turning blue, her hands around her throat. The look on her face was a look of complete terror. Her friend is holding her by the shoulders and shaking her like crazy while screaming for help as loud as she can. Then I watch in horror as her eyes roll back into her head and she crumples to the ground. Her friend screams even more. I stop singing. The crowd gasps. Everyone backs up around the space where the girls body is sprawled motionless across the floor.

The first thing that crosses my mind is, "Oh, Crap!" But then I come to my senses. I jump down off the stage (and the crowd gasps some more) and rush over to her. She has gone completely limp. She isn't breathing, but she has a faint pulse, which means at least she's alive. Think, Ed, think! Ummmm...CPR... Isn't that what you're supposed to do on someone who isn't breathing? I haven't actually ever done CPR ever before, but I've seen a few TV shows where they do it. I form a fist with one hand and then put my other hand around it. I push down repetitively just below her rib cage.

She sputters a weak wheeze. It's working, but not good enough. What else do people do? Oh yeah, that mouth to mouth thing. It's pretty much down to practically kissing a girl I don't even know or having her die in my arms. I go with the kissing thing. I cup my mouth around hers and blow outwards as hard as I can. After doing this a few times her chest begins to slightly rise and fall by itself again. Thank god that was when the paramedics arrived.

The paramedics snatched her right out from under me, tossed her onto a stretcher, and rolled her right into the ambulance. I followed. When I climbed into the ambulance the nurse only objected once, but I ignored her, so she just rolled her eyes and got back to work. She hooked the unconscious girl up to tons of wires and machines. They stuck needles into her countless times. They continued doing CPR. The nurse only looks up at me once. "So, do you know who actually performed the CPR on her?" She asked, nodding towards the girl.

I reply with the honest truth, "Ummm.... Actually, that was me."

The nurse licks her lips and nods in approval. "Well, you saved her life. Her lungs had completely shut down. We don't know exactly why yet, but if you hadn't performed that mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and restarted her lungs she would have died from oxygen deprivation."

I stay silent, letting that all sink in. I saved her life? I pictured life savers as either super heroes or brain surgeons. I'm not either one of those. I just Ed, just me. When we pull up to the hospital the nurse informs me that I'll have to stand out of the way so that they can get the girl out of the ambulance and into the hospital as quickly as possible. I watch in amazement as a team of hospital staff quickly unhooks and unplugs all of the machines, runs her all through the hospital and to her room while the nurse continued doing chest compressions the entire time.

When I finally get to her room after following the gurney all the way there, the first hospital welcome I get is getting the hospital door slammed in my face. I decide not to knock, thinking it might disturb the doctors. I don't know when I'll be able to go in the room, but I do know that I'm not leaving, not until I get to know the poor girl whose life I have saved.
