The Autumn Leaves

What happens to leaves when they fall from the trees?

The falling leaves in autumn remind us how things can change so soon. Not long ago those leaves were thriving, perched on the upper echelons of the trees, basking in the warmth of the summer sun and taking the soothing summer breeze in its stride. Now they sit on the ground below the tree that once gave them such an amazing home, literally and figuratively a shadow of their former selves. While the opportunity to be something so amazing has passed them, hope has not yet been lost for these leaves, for their current state only allows for further growth within the domain of nature. Fallen leaves hit the ground and immediately begin to enrich the soil, allowing for the growth of new trees that will give life to many more leaves.

A lesson we as human beings can take from this is that when we are born we are on a pedestal, closest to the one who has given us this miracle we call life. Unfortunately we can't stay there forever, we all fall, and it's what we do on the ground to enrich new life that defines us, and for our troubles, one day we will be given the chance to rise again.

They live forever
