At the dinner, were all surprised to see the general Way. He was looking at some papers and next to him stood Elizabeth, who had a terrified expression.
-You okay? I mouthed.
She shook her head and I became worried.
After everyone had come, officer Kean stood up and looked at us with a sad expression.
-As you can see Mr. Way came here today from Yorkshire to make a statement! Please, Mr.Way!
We all watched carefully as Mr.Way stood up and gave us a sad and worried smile. He sighed before he started speaking.
-This morning, a letter arrived at my house. It said that the English army needs more soldiers in Russia. Tomorrow morning every soldier from team 5 and 8 will leave for Russia! He said.
I froze. Everyone from my room froze. We were team 5. We were going to Russia. We were going to fight the Germans.
Some girls, that were working in the camp, began to cry. They were the soldiers' girlfriends.
I looked at my girlfriend who was hugging another female officer, Hayley Williams, and they were both crying.
After the officers and the General had left, I stood up and hugged my girlfriend. I gave her a kiss in the forehead and let the tears fall.
