The red in my vision was beginning to clear, the numbness that had claimed my body was seeping away leaving only painful tingles as my nerves adjusted.

Blinking I look down, only for my eyes to widen and wonder if the red that had consumed my gaze had truly vanished, maybe it hadn't because that's all I could see. All I could see, was red.

It took a few seconds for me to realize that it wasn't the same red that had been in my vision, that what I saw was instead blood.

I finally took in what was around me, my hands shaking as I saw the room. It was in pieces, holes in the walls, everything knocked over and shattered if it had been fragile, the furniture had been angrily thrown to the edges of the room. Finally, there was a body on the misplaced rag, blood seeping into the fabric and forever staining it with the man's essence.

There was a lot of blood, it had flooded like a released stream to my feet, staining the bottoms of their milky flesh.

Instead of numbness consuming my body now, shivers raked up and chattered my teeth. A man was dead, I didn't even know this man! Breathes came and were released in quick pants now, over and over now, as if I couldn't get enough oxygen into my brain, not enough blood. Oh blood!

I shuddered but couldn't myself turn away, unable to as I looked away from the dead man and to my hands, which I've just realized, were stained with blood and my left hand gripped a blood stained knife in a white firm grasp.

My eyes widened at the sight.

Did I kill this man? I couldn't have, but all the signs pointed to me, only me.

Police sirens blared into my ears then, echoing mercilessly throughout my mind, snapping me out of my shocked state. Without another thought, I ran, I ran from the room, out of the backdoor, and into the woods behind it. Running with no destination in mind, or a memory of any kind.
