Lily ran her fingers along Sarah's back, tracing invisible patterns along her alabaster skin.
"Do you think we should tell people that we're...?" Lily trails off.
"Having sex?" Sarah asks, trying to tone down the panic in her voice.
Lily laughs indicating she's almost as nervous as the other actress is. Sarah wished that meant she would drop the subject.
"No, I mean I certainly wouldn't phrase it that way to anyone else but that we're... what are we Sarah?"
The brunette's muscles twitch with the urge to spring out of bed, away from this question. She takes a deep breath.
"We're friends," she says. "You're... my best friend."
Lily sighs and the actress hates herself for not being capable of more.
"But aren't we more than that? You feel like more than that to me."
"We're friends who have sex?" Sarah offers hopefully, but regreting the words immediately when she sees the hurt that forms across the blonde's face. "Look, I'm sorry. I... you're right. It feels like more. I just... I'm not good at this. And I really don't want to screw it up."
The younger woman smiles while Sarah tries to ignore the pain that's still obvious in Lily's ocean blue eyes.
"It's okay," Lily says, her hands now rubbing soothing circles on the older woman's back. "We have time. It will work out. You're not going to screw it up."
"I-I think.. I uh.. I love you, Lily. I'm just n-no good at relationships. You know?" The blonde nodded her head, understanding the brunette's words fully.
"I love you too, Sar, and this is enough for me."
