I know it was going to be a great day from the moment I rolled out of bed with a craving for adventure. When I arrived at breakfast early already in my Robin attire with an uncontrollable case of the jitters, Bruce knew something was up. From the other side of the table he spoke up about my behavior.
"You excited about something, Rachelle?" He smirked from across the table, he knew exactly why I was excited but I played along.
"Sorry, but you see, today is the day I get to have a tour of the Justice League headquarters and I can't help it if I'm a little bit excited. Because, you know it's not like I'm a the sidekick to the infamous Batman or anything." From the look I was getting from Bruce I could tell that he was having one of his rare moments of amusement. To extend the precious moment I dragged on, talking about Batman and Robin as if they weren't us. Of course, our bonding moment was cut short by crime.
"Master Bruce, Miss Rachelle, I am afraid that there has been a disturbance in the park, one of our cameras has picked up action on a Mr. Freeze." Alfred, our grandfather figure like butler announced to us. Almost immediately, Bruce and I bolted towards the nearest entrance to the Batcave. Within a couple of minutes, we were ridding on our cycles at top speed towards the park.
I got there before Batman, but when I arrived, Mr. Freeze had started freezing people with his ray gun. On impulse, I decided that I couldn't wait for Batman so I sprung right into action. First, I threw a bird-a-rang at his helmet to attract his attention, then darted off behind him in a wide arc so I couldn't be seen. He looked around, clearly looking for Batman but he wasn't having much luck. I let out one of my signature cackles before flipping onto the dome helmet on his suit, using the momentum to perform another flip which allowed me to land in front of him with two more bird-a-rangs at the ready, which I threw against his helmet, cracking it down the middle.
"Oh, Boy Wonder," Mr. Freeze started to drag, he and most of the other criminals of Gotham, loved to talk to Batman and I as if we wanted to listen. I usually replied sarcastically to their rants and speeches, but today however I couldn't help but smirk at the fact that Mr. Freeze was oblivious to Batman who was just arriving. "The Bat sent you to drag me off to prison? Frankly, I'm underwhelmed." Freeze continued as I had to retrain myself from laughing at the fool he was making of himself.
I was ready for Batman, who was sneaking up on the villain, to knock him out, because I wanted to get to the Hall of Justice on time. However, Mr. Freeze wouldn't stop talking.
"Great," I remarked, looking to Batman as Mr. Freeze picked up his ray. "but I'm kind of in a hurry here."
Apparently Mr. Freeze assumed I was talking to him so he responded. "Kids these day, always in such a rush. I prefer to preserve these moments." He powered up his ray and aimed it at me. I didn't move as he seemed as if he wanted to keep talking, like he always does. However, today I wasn't in the mood to listen, so when he started talking again, I cut him off.
"Wasn't talking to you," I retorted. The villain's eyes widened as he looked behind him in fear. On cue, Batman leaped above him, landing on the helmet and punching through the damaged glass in order to knock him out. Finally we could go to the Hall.
---------------------------------------------
I knew that we were going to be the first ones there, because if you know Batman you know that he's quite punctual. Shortly after we arrived, the others started to show up with the last ones being Flash and Kid Flash, no shocker there. We started walking down the red carpeted walkway that led to the front door of the hall, when I whispered to Kid Flash.
"Isn't this cool? I haven't been this excited since Batman let me pilot his jet,"
"I know I'm totally being overwhelmed right now," He whispered back, then realization hit him. "Batman let you pilot his jet?" Unfortunately for him, I chose to ignore his question.
