Gone

"What do you mean you're leaving the team?" Wally exclaimed. He did not take Kaldur's news very well.

"Hey, KF," I called to him before he could blow up in our now former leader's face. "Did you not here the part about him only taking a temporary break? Or did you just decide to ignore that part?" Aqualad had said it himself, he would go to Atlantis for a while to sort of reassess his position as leader. I would just assume the role of leader until he got back.

I did understand how Wally felt though, I mean, Kaldur helped us form the team. It wouldn't feel the same without him, even if he would come back.

"I know, but I'm still not cool about it." He pouted, crossing his arms.

"Oh, please, you're just upset that I'm the new leader," I teased.

"It's not fair." He argued. "You're a thirteen year old boy, and I'm two years your senior. I should get to be leader."

"Yeah? Well--"

"That is enough," Kaldur butted into our argument before we actually started to fight. "It has already been decided that Robin would become the leader in my absence due to his experience as a hero and his specific skill set. I suggest you respect that decision."

Wally scoffed. "And who made that decision?"

"Him," I smirked and Wally turned around to see my mentor, Batman, standing right behind him. His glare alone made Wally squirm.

"You know what?" Wally cowered, slowly taking a few steps back, "I think I'm good with that decision."

Satisfied with Wally's new attitude, Batman turned to face me. "I have a mission for you, be back in the Batcave in five."

He turned away and left, leaving us all quite bewildered.

"So, you know what, Rob? I'm fine with you being leader, as long as it keeps me on his good side."

"Can't promise you anything because I'm not quite so sure that he has one. However, if I find out he does, I'll make sure to put in a good word for you." I saluted to Wally and Kaldur before taking off towards the Zeta-tubes.

I took a deep breathe before beaming to the Batcave where I met my mentor by the supercomputer.

"What's the mission, Batman?" I asked, preparing myself for literally anything. From my experience, Batman could, and would send me on missions from apprehending any of the resident Gotham villains to drug deal busting to even washing the Batmobile.

"Alfred wants to talk to you." He said nothing else but returned to the computer to work.

"Sure thing." I didn't argue, because no one argues with Batman. Well, I had argued with him in the past, but never on something quite so mundane as walking into the manor and seeing what Alfred wants.

I couldn't help but giggle a little as I headed to the manor to find Alfred. After all, only Alfred could get Batman to do little chores for him.

Still in my Robin uniform, I wondered the halls of the manor, looking for Alfred. It didn't seem like part of his usual behavior to stray off when he specifically asked for my presence.

In one of the many hallways, I came across a large mirror. There was nothing special about the mirror, but as I walked past, I couldn't help but look in it. Sure, what I saw didn't surprise me, but it did feel a little weird to see myself the way others saw Robin.

Normally, when I looked in a mirror, I would see my messy waist length black hair, natural curves, and well, my chest. Thanks to all of the glamour I wore, when I looked in the mirror, I saw none of that. When I looked at my appearance, I saw short cut, yet still messy black hair, no curve, no chest, and a boyish face. No wonder I have had so much success in hiding my secret. I actually looked so much like a boy, anyone I told my secret to would probably have a hard time believing the truth.
