It was raining outside. Cold. Wet. Rain. Shivering like mad whenever an unexpected drop lands right on your face. Rubbing your arms for warmth as the rain pours harder and harder. The slushing noise as the rain runs down the road, like a river raging downstream. You know what cats hate more than dogs? Rain. Cold, wet, pouring rain. Enough to make a cat hiss. A certain kitty cat was stuck out in the rain. Either that or be left with his ruthless father who cared about nothing but himself and business. Adrien and his father had gotten into a huge argument that night, causing Adrien to want to leave for the night. He couldn't just go to Nino's house; he apparently was a 'bad influence' as quoted from his father.
Obviously Ladybug wouldn't be out at such a late time, patrol had already happened. That left only one choice – Marinette. She was the only person he could trust. The first time he met her was when Nathaniel had gotten akumatized and he needed Marinette's help because Nathaniel liked her, and she would go to his birthday party (lol no one else was there? Sad birthday party). Adrien quickly transformed into Cat Noir, and then quickly roamed the streets of Paris to find a certain bakery.
It was still pouring rain. Every time a huge cluster of raindrops splashed on his head, he gave an annoyed hiss, cursing the sky for having clouds that released such a liquid. He shivered, and eventually found the bakery after quite a while. He scaled the side of the house, and peeked inside a window. He instantly noticed the warm colors that flowed in the room, the sewing machine and the fabric. He knew it was Marinette's room. He saw the girl sitting on her bed, reading a novel, and occasionally flipping the page. Cat Noir felt bad, and he regretted coming since he would bother the poor girl. But he had no choice, he couldn't just freeze in the rain, Ladybug would worry, especially if he caught a cold from the chilly temperature.
And yet, he just didn't know how to explain his appearance if he went back to his own home. His father might do something awful to him if he returned. He shook that thought away, and gently tapped on the glass window. Marinette jumped a bit at the noise, resulting with her falling off her bed. Guilt started creeping up on Cat Noir as Marinette stood herself up, coming to the window with a concerned look on her face. She opened the window to see a nervous grin reflect back at her.
"Cat Noir, what are you doing here? Do you know how late it is? Did something happen?" She blabbered him with questions, half scolding him, half relief for him.
"I'm so sorry, princess. I did not mean to trouble you." He knelt down while taking her hand, lightly kissing it. Marinette gave a flustered smile as she sheepishly rubbed the back of her neck, hoping to have her hand released. He let her hand go, and stood up, trying to think of what to say next. But he didn't need to say anything... first.
"So... mind explaining why you crawled through my window, scared the living hell out of me, and why you are calling me 'princess'?" She crossed her arms, awaiting an explanation.
"Uh... it's nothing important. I just couldn't stay at my home..." He spoke, nervously staring at the floors tiles.
She gave a death stare.
"Really, it's nothing bad, princess."
Death stare continued, not losing an ounce of fright.
Cat Noir gulped, wishing there could be a different explanation to offer.
"Why couldn't you just sleep outside?" She puzzled, giving him a questioning look.
He froze in his place. "What should I tell her? That it's too cold outside? No, it's about 45 degrees outside... not that cold... but the rain sure makes it cold..." Time to just spit it out.
"I-It's raining..." He stuttered, still looking at his feet. He expected to hear a response like 'Suck it up and just go outside,' but instead he got a warm chuckle.
"Aww, kitty's afraid of the rain? Is that why you came? To get out of the rain and maybe stay a while?" She gave a sympathetic smile as he shyly nodded his head 'yes.'
Marinette then did the most unexpected thing ever. She came up to him and wrapped her arms around him, embracing him in a warm hug. He gasped in shock, and slowly his arms rose to return the hug.
"Thank you, princess." He whispered, as he released his arms from the hug. Marinette smiled back, saying a small "You're welcome." To accompany his thanks.
So, that was settled. Cat Noir would stay the night, as the rain relentlessly poured on and on. Eventually thunder came, making poor kitty tremble, not before he gave a fierce hiss, as if it would scare away the thunder. Marinette would always enfold him in a hug as he shook, trying to ease that cute little kitty cat. She found it funny that he included the personalities of an actual cat, including the adorableness.
A loud boom echoed throughout the house, panicking poor Cat Noir, causing him to run on all fours, cuddling in the corner with a fluffy blanket. This caused Marinette to giggle, spreading a blush on kitty's cute little face.
Marinette had plopped herself down next to Cat Noir.
It wasn't long until they both fell asleep, cuddling next to each other.
