There was always something about him; my father. There was always something he was hiding. When I was a child he would hardly ever be home. ''Buisness,'' He'd say. ''Very important. It will help you, someday.'' His eyes would always be glazed over when he'd say this, and he'd go quiet for the next hour or so. I always thought he was telling the truth. He would be gone for days, weeks, even months at a time, but still, I was the only person to ever believe him. My brother was under the impression that our father was some kind of super hero, saving the world on his time away. My mother assumed he was spending his days apart from us with other women, though she never really said it to our faces. I would hear her through the thin walls, sobbing to someone on the phone, saying that my father was a bad man for leaving his children to play with other ladies.
She cried so often that my brother and i would think she was sick. As of right now, my father has been MIA for exactly four months, one week and three days. He just dropped off the face of the earth. My mom doesn't think he will ever come back. In a way, she is right. Well, I guess that's where my story begins, isn't it?
