I follow Dan out of the cafeteria, but stop by the girls bathroom. I walk into a stall and check my phone as I lock it. My mom texted me she would be late coming home. As I sit down to do my business, a group of girls come into the bathroom, talking loudly. One of them goes into the stall next to me.

Girl one "So did you hear that Brad likes that Asian girl, Le-Anne?"

Girl two, "Yeah, she's actually really pretty. I heard she liked him since like eighth grade. Goals AF."

The two girls giggle an girl one says, "But she hangs out with a couple of losers. Like, she should know that's not good for her image.  Like, really that goth girl is so creepy. She's always depressed. She's hardly ever happy. It's annoying."

"Well, I heard her dad goes MIA for long periods of time. It's so sad... I don't know how i'd survive if my dad would just disappear like that..." Said girl two.

Girl three flushes and exits the stall. "Well I bet he's banging other women on the side."

I feel anger bubbling up inside of me.

Girl two says, "Well that would suck, to break up his own family like that! I don't understand how anyone could do that, its so effed up..."

"I bet he leaves because of that freak daughter of his. She would make anyone want to run away." says girl three, "Hell, even his wife, probably. My mom works with her up at the grocers. She said she's always crying. Nobody wants to be married to a crybaby. I bet the boy, whats his name?"

"Luke," girl one answers.

"Yeah, well I bet he is the only normal one there. I met him once at one of Thompson's parties. He's hot."

I do up my jeans and flush the toilet. I exit the stall and go to the sink to wash my hands. The girls stop talking and one of them catches my eye in the mirror. She doesn't look away but the other two stare at their shoes. I turn around to the girl. She must be girl three.

"You don't know shit about my family, so you have no right to talk about us. My father goes away on work, and my mom hates it. My brother is too good for you and he wouldn't give you hoes a second glance. My friends would never hang out with the likes of you. Leave my family and my friends out of your gossip." I make for the door and one of the girls finches. "Trust me, I wouldn't hit you." I look at each of them in turn. " You're not worth it." I leave the bathroom and head for my next class, my chest burning. I decide I don't want to finish the day, so I turn into the next hallway and exit the school.
