Chapter 1: Meet Preston

The world is on its last legs. Those last legs are the city of Denver. The only city left in the world as far as we know. It's all because of the BEASTS. The beasts are a terrorist group that has attacked over 300 city's, taking over, killing there people, then moving on to the next. Robert is the leader of the BEASTS. He is cruel man who knows nothing but hate. But I tell a story about a boy who stood up to it put an end to this cruelty. His name is Preston, Preston echo. When he was only 6 years old an attack from the beasts took place in Denver. Unfortunately his mom was killed in this attack. Although Denver was not taken over by the beasts it took a hit that day. And ever since then Denver has been prepared for anything that was going to hit. When prestons mother died his dad was so devistated that he moved out of Denver and into a small town called lakewood because he didn't feel safe in the city of Denver. Preston is now 18 and lives his life in a house on the mountains with his sister Cara and his father David. Ever since the attack on Denver, David trained Preston to defend himself. David has been very protective since he lost his wife, he makes sure his children are always able to defend themselves against the cruel forces of the outside world. Preston was never focased on the important things in life like growing up and school. Instead he focased on fighting and training and so did his sister Cara. The Denver government tries to cover up the darkness of the world to make it seem like every thing is ok but it wasn't at all. The world was crumbling and Preston knew that. He was going to do anything he could to help. While normal kids wanted to get a job in a business Preston wanted to fight in the army to take down the BEASTS and avenge his mother. People saw the world as a safe place like nothing was happening, and the government wanted it that way. If people found out what the BEASTS were planning on doing to Denver they wouldn't want to live there anymore. But the show must go on and the city must run normally as if nothing was happening. Anyways, Preston was looking out for his family and friends at all times. Expecially this one girl. Her name was Ruby and was the most beautiful girl in prestons eyes. There was something about her that made preston feel like he could relate to her. She wasn't the most popular in the school but she definitely was not unknown. she had long brown hair and brown eyes that glowed when you looked at her. Not a lot of guys liked her. So it made Preston feel like she was all his. Preston didn't have much style, he normally had his hair in a messy quiff and always wore a dark blue hooded jacket that had the letter H written in orange across the middle of it. He knew that the way that he dressed and acted would never attract a beautiful girl like Ruby. Plus Preston got horrible grades due to his lack of pertisipation which was not one of Ruby's taste in guys. So Preston left his love life alone. He thought that if he didn't mess with it he wouldn't have anything to worry about except the BEASTS which should not have been one of his concerns. As the last semester of school drew to a close Preston had no idea what he wanted to do and had a D in almost all of his classes. On Tuesday Prestons history teacher mrs smith told Preston that if he doesn't get higher then a 70% on the history project, that he would fail 12th grade and be held back. The history project was a project where you had to relate a historic event to an event in your life. The historic event was chosen by the teacher. Preston got the theory of evolution which preston knew nothing about. Preston normally never listened in class and never had much interesting events in his life. He needed help... badly.
