After-Heart

Where am I?
What is this place?
It's so dark here...
Wait a second...
I can see people in a line...
What are they waiting for?
Whats going on?
Maybe they have answers...

I started waiting in line even though the pitch black nothingness around me and the line itself all seemed endless.

I went to stand behind a boy and he seemed nice so I poked him to get his attention.

"Hmm?" He turned around

"Hi, do you know where we are?" I asked

"I have no idea, I just remember being lost in the darkness and then just began to wait in line with everyone else." he replied

"So you don't remember how you got here?"

Then he asked, "Do you?"

The question caught me by surprise. Other than my name, I couldnt remember anything and I felt I was missing something important... but what was it?

A shadowy orb with yellow eyes and a blue zigzag line for a mouth appeared right next to us, wearing a doorman suit and a name tag that says "Darkball: Delivery Room."

"Name?" he asked

"Mitsuko Miyamoto and where are we?" I demanded

"Fiesty one, aren't you?" And he took out a clipboard (For him being a floating ball, you wouldn't think he can pull out a clipboard from no where, but oddly he did) and wrote it down.

He added sarcastically, "Oh wow, Fiesty and a rank 2"

I yelled, " Wait, what do you mean rank 2 and why does it matter?"

He ignored me and asked the boy, "Name?"

"Umm i dont remember"

"Ok then" and writes down on his clipboard and then tells us,"You two, follow me."

While we were walking, I tries to talk to the boy but he didnt answer and stayed completely silent. I didn't understand how someone can forget their own name and why was the purple ball asking for it? I need answers if I was going to stay in this place any longer.
"Hey Mr. Darkball, where are we?"

"Ugh, why did this one have to be on my shift?" he murmured
"You are in a place called After-Heart or at least the After-Heart waiting room."

"After-Heart?"

"Yeah, I didnt come up with the name so dont blame me." He said

"How did I get here?"

He responded, "You know how when you die, it is called Afterlife? Well its called that because your life was taken away so After-Heart would mean...?"

"We lost our hearts?"

"Yup" then he murmured again, "Was I this stupid when mine was taken?"

"Hey, I heard that" I yelled

"Good" He responded and we kept walking until we arrived to these glowing black mushroom-like structures, "Now welcome to the Realm of Darkness"

I was starting to see the white rock we were walking on and finally, we went passed this gate called "Registration" which had a couple of tables, all run by more dark monsters. Mr. Darkball left us at the waiting corner, said goodbye and hovered away. I almost forgot that the boy was still with me because he stayed silent during the whole walk. I can see through his hands hiding his face, he was crying at one point because of the dried up trails of tears down his eyes. Once we got a waiting number, we sat back down and he said,"How did I lose my heart and how could I have forgot my name?"

"Well my heart is gone too so you aren't alone" and I tried to soothe him by rubbing his back with my hand.

The second I put my hand on his back, he smacked it away angrily and said in an angry tone, "You don't know how it is, you don't know how I feel."

"Fine, I was just trying to help."

"Its fine, i'm sorry, I just can't believe I could forget something like that."

"Maybe we can find out what your name is together"

"You sound so positive, what makes you think we will find out what my name is?"

"Well all we have to do us ask around, maybe some one here remembers more than just their name and can know you."

"Let's say you do find out who I am, what makes you think we will stay together after this?"

"Do you want to be seperated?" I asked

"Well..." he said while looking down, smiling and I can tell he started blushing, "you're not so bad and I dont really no anyone so I guess it be better to stay with you."

"Well me too" then I started blushing. They then called out our number and we went different ways. Before the boy left, he said "Meet up here after this." "Ok" I confirmed and went to my table. My number was G24 in table 9 and which was more like a cubicle. I saw the sign for table 9 and under was a buff dark monster with wings wearing a red collared shirt, a black striped tie and khakis. His name tag said " Invisible: Registration" but for being a buff monster, he had really good manners, well at least better than Mr. Darkball, "Please, sit down, you look tired." I sat down and waited for him to review my papers that Mr. Darkball wrote about me. "Rank 2, I see. You must be pretty strong.

"What does that exactly mean though, Mr. Invisible?" I replied

"Please, call me Vis, Mr Invisible is my father's name and around hear, we use the rank system by the strength of your heart, 1 being the lowest and 3 being the highest."

"How can you tell how strong one's heart is?"

"The heart is where your emotions are kept and both memories and emotions are connected. So once your heart leaves your body, the heart sends all these memories to the soul where its kept. If you have a weak heart, your heart isnt strong enough to send these emotions or memories to your soul, making you only feel sadness and confusion. When people are in the waiting room, we discover the power of their heart by asking their name. When they remember their name, their heart would be a rank 2.

"What would a rank 3 do or at least remember?"

"Well, I don't know, we haven't had one or at least one since I have been here."

"Oh ok so what now?"

"Well no matter what rank you are, you have to go through training and depending on how you do will determine what you will become."

"What do you mean 'determine what I become?'"

"You'll learn after training so here is your papers for training, there is a map to where the training facility is and the dormitory where you will be staying. I will most likely see you again in the future"

"Ok then thanks and goodbye."

I went back to the chairs and saw the boy waiting for me with some papers too. He then got up and said, "Ms. Shade told me to go to the training facility to know what we are going to do next."

"Then I guess that's where we go then."

"She also said that we can either turn into emblems or purebloods. I don't know what she meant by that but I guess we are going to find out soon."

"Well whatever happens, lets just stick together and hope we find out soon."
