Chapter Four
I wake up the next morning to my alarm clock on my phone and smile as the memories of last night flood back to me. I thought Jake was just a pain in the ass, but really he's really nice. Maybe, he was just having a really bad day when we first met. I would be able to look over it easily if this was the real him.
I text him Jake Hey with a smiley face. I hope he's awake! I groan when I realize I have to get out of bed or I'll be late. I go to my bathroom, but here some odd noises as I brush my teeth. I suspiciously go to my sisters bathroom. I sink to my feet on the ground when I realize what she's doing. I get up and try not to cry. I bang on the door. Hard. The noises stop. She slowly creeks open the door. Her breath smells awful as she whispers hello.
I grab her out of the bathroom and pull her into my bedroom.
"How could you?! How could you Serena? You promised me. That's the only reason I didn't tell anybody about this!" I scream quietly at her.
She looks anywhere, but at me and I sigh.
"Serena. I love you. What you're doing to yourself.. It's not okay. How long has this been going on?" I say much more calm.
"Since the party," she says quietly. She knows she's in trouble!
"That's two days. Okay, okay. This is okay. Okay, Serena go get a bowl of cereal and come back up here," I order. She leaves me room hopefully going to do what I say.
I continue getting ready and I get scared. At one point it was so bad she weighed almost half of what she should. I still get nightmares about her coming to me and asking why I didn't help. I'll stand there while she pukes and she keeps asking over and over. Why did no one help me?
Mom never noticed because back then she was never home. We never saw her. And as Serena got worse Moms job became more demanding. I was Serena's mother. I was always there for her. While I had Nick she only had me.
Serena walks in ready to leave with cereal in tow. She eats it and in between one of her bites she apologizes. And in between another bite she tells me the urges have gotten worse.
"Serena, I think it's time to tell mom," I say.
"No! If you tell mom I'll.. I'll.. I won't accept help! Just please don't Adrianna. I'll be strong. I just, I want to look good for the guy I've been seeing," she begs.
I smile. Serena found someone.
"Serena, if he wants to be with you he better want to be with all of you. You're so beautiful. I mean, you look like me so how could you not?" I say jokingly. Serena laughs and I hug her. We stay like this for a while until my phone beeps.
I walk over to see a message from Nick asking to pick me up. I smile, but say I can't. Serena really needs me today.
"Hey, how come when we were having a date last night I see all these pictures of you two together Adrianna?" Is how I'm greeted when I get to school. Andrew is a real cup of sunshine in the morning. Serena already left for her locker so she wasn't here.
"Oh," is my oh-so-genius response.
"Look, I don't like being made a fool of. If this is how you'd treat me if we were dating than I don't know if I want to," he says.
"Heck Adrianna, why would you want to come between Nick and I?" He says angrily. People are starting to stare and I frown. I didn't know they were close. God, I messed up again!
"I'm so sorry Andrew. I didn't mean to. It's just people were giving him a hard time so I wanted to show people he and I were cool. So we-"
Andrew cuts me off and says," So you two are cool? After he almost rapes you?"
