Chapter 4: Nikki Learns how to Use Weapons

~~~Nikki's P.O.V.

"So, where do we start with me learning the way of the sword?" I ask pretty eager to learn how to wield some weapons.

"First we need a sword for you to use, then we can get you learning how to use one." Link deadpanned towards me. "You stay here while I go and get the spare sword that I know of. Don't do anything that will get you killed or in major need of saving." He ordered after a bit of thought.

"Okay." I say while getting myself hyped about learning stuff from one of my favorite characters.

~~~3rd person where Link is~~~

"Besides just the sword I should probably teach her some other weapons, so that if she doesn't have a sword on hand she can have other things to defend herself with." Link mused while grabbing his extra sword for the girl he encountered. Thinking it over a bit more he decides that he will do just that and grabs a whip, an iron bow, a couple of clawshots, a gust bellows, a slingshot, some bombs, a pair of digging mitts, and a beetle. Then he heads off back to where he left the girl that he is going to be teaching.

"Oh, there he is drifting down with that piece of cloth again. I wonder how long it will take to learn how to wield a sword." I say as I spot Link gliding down to the forest clearing that we had walked to and had decided would be a good place for me to learn how to wield a sword. 'though it seemed like he was hinting at teaching me more weapons than just the sword.' I think as he lands on the ground.

"I'm back and I see that you didn't get into any trouble while I was away which is good." he says right after landing. "Now we need to get some practice dummies set up for your training. We are probably going to need a lot in the varieties of logs, hanging objects, targets, and rocks. After we get that all set up, we are going to be focusing on your sword wielding skills." he basically orders.

"Yes Sir" I respond and get right on gathering the various materials that he mentioned, so that he can set up the training area. This ended up taking quite a few hours to get it all set up, but once it was all set up, Link was ready to teach me how to use the various weapons and I was needing a bit of a rest before we moved onto me actually learning what he planned on teaching me.

~~~Time Skip to evening~~~

"Alright, lets get on with me learning now that I am rested up." I say excitedly to Link, whom is giving me an exasperated look. After a few minutes of him just staring at me, he brings a plain looking blade with a golden hilt and guard. "Woah, you are having me start with that?" I ask as he hands it to me.

"Yes, now mimic how I hold my sword with the one that I just gave you." he instructs me while getting into a ready position with his sword. After a few moments of observing his positioning, I move into my best imitation of it. Which by how Link was looking at me was pretty poor, but that doesn't mean that I will be completely bad at sword fighting, just that it might take me a bit of time to get. "Okay, well I guess I need to correct her stance now" he mumbles while getting out of stance and correcting mine. "Until you get close to being in stance with the sword when you pull it out, you are going to enter and then exit it repeatedly. I will state when you can move on to the next step of sword fighting." he instructs before starting to look at me critically while I attempt to go in and out of stance with my blade. Twenty minutes later he states, "I believe that you have gotten as close to getting into the stance on your own for now, so we are now going to move onto the horizontal and vertical slashes. You will watch me and then you will be doing them until I decide that you are ready to learn the other sword techniques that I am going to show you." he says then shows me how to do a horizontal and a vertical slash. Which leads to me trying to attempt them for a good forty minutes before he decides I did good enough to move onto diagonal slashes and stabbing with the sword. That took me another thirty-five minutes to learn to the degree that he said was acceptable. "The last two techniques that I will teach you for with a sword are the jump attack and the spin attack. These are the last two sword attacks you will be learning and then we will move onto another one of the weapons that I have prepared myself to teach you." he says before showing me the last two sword attacks that he was willing to teach me. Which ended up having some interesting results from me, those being it took me only ten minutes to master the jump attack and twenty-five minutes  for mastering the spin attack.
