Mel's cousin just arrived. Angela and her are going to share a room I think Melanie said. So far, the only impression I can get about Angela is that she is a complete, narcissistic bitch. After she got here, she spent about three hours in the bathroom "perfecting her make-up". Yeah, whatever. And do you want to know what she asked me?
"How old are you? I think I see god awful wrinkles by your eyes. I heard stress causes them. Oh my gosh, I have some amazing cream that will make those disappear," she says as she chomps on her gum.
"No thanks," I spit acidly. Who the hell does this chick think she is to talk to me like that?
"Are you s-"
"Mel! I'm going out." I shove a gun into my waist and a knife inside my combat boots. Angela quirks an eyebrow.
"Y-"
"Shut your mouth before I shut it for you." I state calmly, my hand clenched on the pistol. She rolls her eyes.
"I guess I'll see you later," Mel sighs.
"I need to go see Reed." I mumble to myself as I drive to my old house.
Reed walks from the door to my car with a surprised look on his face. "I'd never expect to see you here." Yeah, me either.
"So Olivia and Garret are mates?" I ask, getting straight to the point. He smiles.
"Yeah. He's so happy. I've never seen him so joyful in the years that I've known him."
"Cool."
"You're not happy for him?" His brows furrow as he looks at me.
"I don't know, Reed." I throw my hands in exasperation. "That's one of the few things on my mind. Mel's cousin came to stay with us, she seems like a snotty bitch, and I honestly need to get some rest. You know how much sleep I had last night? Three hours!"
"Kels," he lays his palms on my shoulders, "come inside and I'll make some warm tea."
I purse my lips and consider the idea. After a few seconds, I reluctantly agree. "I guess but I need to be somewhere afterwards. I hear a race calling my name tonight."
"Sure, sure."
He made my favorite tea. Mint tea, in fact.
"Have you done anything about Melanie's parents yet?"
"Not yet. I can't find where they live. I asked a couple pack members but they all said that they move around a lot."
"That's strange. You don't think they'd go rouge and leave her, do you?" I trace the table's marble pattern, thinking about those abusive asses."
"It's possible. Abuse has very strong consequences in my pack." I nod along.
"I, I don't think-" he starts but the door opens and slams shut.
"Reed? Kelsey?" Garret asks, stepping into the kitchen. I breathe a sigh through my nose.
"Hey, Garret. I thought you'd still be with Olivia right now." Reed runs a hand through his hair. You could definitely feel the tension between Garret and I. Then again, you could say that we're catching up on our sibling rivalry.
"Her parents called her home," he says, not sparing me a glance, not that I care.
"Oh, okay." A taut silence falls between the three of us.
"Uh, Reed, could you talk to her about the situation? As you can tell, we aren't exactly on speaking terms as of right now," my brother murmurs.
"I guess." Reed turns to me. "Come to the living room with me?" I shrug in response and follow him with my tea.
