Isabelle's POV
I was sitting next to my husband David when it happened. I gasped.
"What is it?" David asked.
"The baby's coming," I whispered.
"What? But it's too early!"
"Tell that to the baby, because it's coming!" I snapped.
"Right." He grabbed the car keys and we ran out the door. He drove quickly to the hospital and we went inside. The lady at the reception desk looked up when we walked in.
"Hi, how can I help you?" she asked.
"My wife is having a baby," David replied. She pointed us to the right room and we went in.
--8 hours later--
As soon as the baby was born, she was taken away. I understood why, her lungs hadn't developed yet, but I was sad I didn't get to hold my baby girl. David and I waited for a while, then the doctor came in to talk to us.
"She's alive. We have her in premie care. Unfortunately, she'll have to stay there. I'm afraid you can't see her though. If you feel up to it, you can go home." I nodded, and David and I went home. For the next couple of months, we visited the hospital frequently to see our little girl, who we decided to name Jasmine, until one day we arrived and the doctor met us outside.
"Can I talk to you?" David and I exchanged glances, then nodded. He pulled us aside.
"Mr. And Mrs. Brown, there has been a... development." We must have looked worried, because he jumped to reassure us. "No no, Jasmine is alive, but there was a slight issue and she has gone into a coma. No big deal, she'll probably come out of it in a week or two, but I thought you should know before you go see her."
David and I both nodded, then walked into the room where Jasmine was. When I saw her sleeping, looking very pale, I felt sad. Later, sitting next to her while David was getting us both lunch, I leaned down and whispered to her,
"Come back to us, Jasmine."
