"I can't stop loving you, Wendy. My dad wants us torn apart, but I've made sure that that doesn't happen." A young man told his girlfriend, who he was holding lovingly.

"David, you sound so cheesy." Wendy giggled. She held onto his broad shoulders, staring into his ocean blue eyes.

"I know," David wrapped his arms tightly around Wendy's nimble waist, "But I mean every word."

He inched his face closer to hers, taking in the succulent scent of her breath. Their lips met, slowly at first, but David wasted no time in turning it into a full kiss. After awhile, they pulled away, gazing into each others' eyes.

The silence of the moment was pure, like an angel cast down from Heaven. Eventually, Wendy spoke. "I can't believe it. Our first kiss." She spoke in an amazed whisper.

"Yeah, I know. Hard to believe it's already been a year since we first got together." David smiled, a soft smile that radiated joy and serenity.

Hours passed. The young couple walked along the glittery sand of the beach. The cool night air created a satisfying breeze. As they walked, their hands were interlaced.

"When I first told my old man off, he was really shocked." David said, a small smile on his face.

"I can only imagine." Wendy chuckled. She was slightly shivering, not only from the air, but also the cool sand against the soles of her bare feet.

David noticed this when he looked over at her. "I would give you my jacket, but I don't have it with me."

"Oh, it's cool. Nothing major." Wendy shrugged it off casually.

David knew better than that. Giving her a warm smile, he wrapped his muscular arm around her waist. They continued walking like this, Wendy's steps slightly awkward due to the position. Eventually, Wendy's feet grew tired from all the walking.

"My feet are killing me," She reached down and rubbed her sandy feet.

"Pfft, no big deal," David hunched over a little, looking back at Wendy. She just gave him a confused look. "Hop on my back. You know, like a piggy back ride." He chuckled, amused by her puzzlement.

Her face full of relief, she hopped up on his back and wrapped her arms around his sturdy chests. When he stood straight, he held her up by the thighs. She was comfortable with this position, indicated by her resting her head against his shoulders.

"I don't see why the guys make fat jokes about you," David remarked, "You're lighter than my baby sister."

The remark made Wendy slightly blush. "David, I'm not that small," She smiled.

"Maybe not, but you're still pretty little." David playfully retorted.

Wendy just rolled her eyes. "Whatever, Davey."

The young couple stopped to gaze out far into the ocean distance. The ocean itself appeared as a black mass of depth and dark majesty, the horizon barely visible in the night sky.

A sudden cold chill crept up David's spine. He thought that somehow Wendy had dismounted his back, so he turned around. He let out a shocked gasp.

"Wendy!?" He quickly became worried. How could she have vanished so quickly? "Wendy, where are you?"

Heart racing and breath shortening, he started roaming the beach to find his lover. The still air and dead silence wasn't making his nerves any better. All over his skin, the night air went from cool to absolutely frigid.

Despite all this, he continued his search for Wendy. She was the only person who was there for him when no one else cared, so he was determined to get her back. But something stopped him dead in his tracks. He didn't necessarily find who he was looking for.
