Have I mentioned, Lucille is kind of cursed. Her mom would always say, "never look in the mirror!" But every time she asked why, her mom would change the subject.
Even though she didn't believe it, she never looked in the mirror. She figured she must be hideous or something.
How the heck was she supposed to know she was cursed? How? She wouldn't know unless she looked in the mirror. But she would never take the chance.
Of course, never looking in the mirror is hard to do. This isn't retro times. This isn't snow white. Lucille had physical education (P.E.), dressing, putting on makeup, and car mirrors. Other reflective surfaces, such as glass, however, won't do any harm.
That's exactly what she thought about as she blinked open her eyes, adjusting to the light and looking around. She went pale, mirrors were everywhere.
She waited, and nothing happen. She sighed, knowing her mom must've been playing tricks on her.
Lucille focused on her reflection. She actually looked quite pretty. Long hair and smooth skin, but not exactly flawless either. If you looked close enough, you could see how rough her skin was really.
She realized she was on a table and tried to get off, but as soon as she was standing, she felt dizzy and her head throbbed.
She laid back down quickly.
"Do not panic." Says someone over an intercom.
Lucille sat back up quickly, but ignored the dizziness.
"Too late for that! What's happening? Where am I?!?" Lucille almost screamed.
"Okay, we will explain everything, just calm down and lay back down" said the intercom.
Lucille wanted anything but be calm. She was tempted to throw the table at the intercom and scream, 'Don't tell me to do!' Or, how in the world am I supposed to calm down!!!'. But she restrained herself.
This was probably a test from her anger management class.
Lucille laid back down and took a deep breath to show she was calm. Though inwardly, she was impatient and staring at the intercom with fake curiousness.
"You are at an agency that makes mutants. You have already had the toxic implanted in you, so don't try to fight. You were unconscious for precisely 48 hours. You will become a mutant with supernatural abilities and work for us. Escape is impossible, and if you try you will be punished. If you don't listen to us, you will be punished. Your new appearance will change just a little. You will have horns, sharper ears, and retractable talons. Your new powers will include gravitational movement/flying, telekinesis/moving things with your mind, and power over earth and nature. You will have increased in speed, strength, hearing, and eyesight. You may or may not have powers over the elements, as they are still in testing. Any more questions?" The intercom spoke.
Mind racing, Lucille stared at the wall in shock, taking it in.
"Why did you choose me for this experiment? Are there others?" Lucille's voice cracked.
"We chose you because girls work best." The guy in the intercom didn't mention that shy girls also fight less. "And there are others. Most don't survive the experiment, though. We only have two others, and 98 experiments failed before them. Not to get you worked up, but the chances of you surviving is 2/100. Good luck."
The intercom made a beeping noise and he didn't say anything else.
Lucille whimpered slightly.
The intercom beeped again, and the same guy said, "Also, you have a new name. You no longer go by Lucille. From now on you are Lucy and you always have been, just in case anyone asks." The intercom beeped again.
Lucille started panicking. She knew the mirrors must be one-way, so why not give them something to look at?
She got up and started throwing the table around the room multiple times.
She finally broke the table on the seventh throw. Seven is the lucky number, so she wasn't surprised.
She picked up a table leg and started hitting the glass, looking like a complete maniac.
She kept hitting, not getting tired with the streak of rebel within her.
She kept hitting everything, until the intercom was lying at her feet, the table was smashed to smithereens, and the one-way glass cracked at multiple places, where she knew they couldn't see her at all in any way.
----------------------------------------------
*Gabe's point of view*
He sat there in the examining room, with the other doctors, scientists, and guards.
He watched her with strong curiosity, watching her annihilate the room. The glass was one-way, so she couldn't see us, but she seemed like she already figured that out.
"Gabe!" A loud voice called his name.
Gabe got up and walked in the direction of Wallace, the head guard.
"I thought you said she would be perfect! A shy girl not likely to fight this much! That girl is nuts!" He yelled at him harshly.
Gabe was not taken aback. Instead, Gabe glared at the man and his cut brown hair and stern face.
"Well, how was I supposed to know? I only talked to her once. This is why you need to let me get to know my victims more!" Gabe's voice rose with every word.
"That is exactly what they are! VICTIMS! You can't just try to get to know them, and what if they don't like you? They could try to team up and kill us all if you so much as glare at her before she gets powerful! Remember: the calm before the storm!"
Of course Gabe remembered. That was their motto. Never let the powerful ones have to much power, or they will turn against them if being treated too mean.
Gabe thought it was silly, of course, to just let anybody have that much power and think you can control them.
He grew weary of the conversation and turned around, not facing Wallace.
He was curious of the progress of Lucille. He was astonished, however, to find he couldn't see Lucille at all because of the glass broken. So broken, you couldn't see over and inch in the small room.
