"Alright ladies and gentlemen, we have a special treat for a special birthday girl in the house! This song goes out to you Evie, from your friends!" The DJ said over the mic. An upbeat song started, sort of like a dub-step sound.

"Oh my gosh! This is my favorite song! Come on, lets dance!" She grabbed my hand and ran to the dance floor. As soon as the words began I knew exactly what song it was, Lay It All on Me by Rudimental feat Ed Sheeran. So we danced, facing each other, next to each other, together, like you do. She would do a few weird dance moves like the running man and then grab my hands and spin around. Other times it was her back against my chest and her just moving with the beat. Well, it was more like her back against my stomach, she was short, even in heals. That was my favorite part, her being close to me. The smell of her perfume was intoxicating and the lights bouncing off her hair making her appear celestial. The best part though was the look in her eyes, so full of laughter and happiness that had me falling hard. In that moment, I realized I truly did fancy her.

Next came Selena Gomez's song Hands to Myself and her energy changed, her brown eyes read playful and sexy. She ran her hands down my chest and got real close, her lips so close to mine I could feel her deep breaths, and her gaze locked on mine. I almost closed the distance between us, but she pulled away when the beat returned and moved across the dance floor, her eyes saying "follow me". So I did, wandering through the crowd of people moving and grinding and kissing, some too drunk to stand. Every once in a while, I saw a pair of brown eyes watching me, so I moved to catch up but as soon as I got there, they were gone again. I looked around and around, walking in a circle trying to find her, but I couldn't.

The rest of the boys were still sat at a table drinking, but they saw me and gestured questioningly. I tried to ask them if they had seen her but it was too loud so I panicked. I continued to look around but with no such luck. What if she left? What if she was only playing me? I couldn't take it if she did.

I had started to lose hope when I felt someone tap my shoulder just as I was walking off the dance floor. Turning around slowly, I saw her. She stood a few feet away, her eyes still shining in the colorful lights. I was about to close the distance myself but she beat me to it, again, standing so close our noses almost touched and I could feel her racing heartbeat. The lights, the noises, the people, everything fade away when her lips met mine. It was just her and I in all the world.

Evie's POV

Oli looked around, trying to find me. He looked over to his friends and I could see him tense up as he started to panic. So I slowly walked up behind him, keeping out of his field of vision, and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around slowly and locked eyes with me. As much as I didn't want to take things fast, I couldn't help myself when I stepped forward, closing the short distance between us and gently pressed my lips to his. When I say I couldn't help myself, I mean that with the alcohol in my system, the atmosphere in the room, the way he looked at me, and the spark I felt between us, it just felt right. He was shocked to say the least, his lips were soft but unsure of what do to. I grabbed his hands and placed them on my waist. Slowly, he grew braver, his lips moving slowly in time with mine. I couldn't even hear the people of the music, just the rapid beating of my heart in my ears.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my fingers through the baby hairs on the back of his neck. A shiver rand down his spine and I smiled slightly. He gripped my waist and pulled me closer to him, putting virtually no space between us. I swear we stood there forever, but really it was only a minute before I broke away. Both Oli's friends and mine stood together on one side cheering.

That brought me to my senses. What was I doing? I had only just met him that afternoon and now I was kissing him! I wasn't that kind of girl, not the type to rush into things, not the type to have one-night-stands, not the type to let anything overshadow my better judgment. He must have sensed something was wrong cause he looked at me with concerned eyes.

"I-I'm sorry, I have to go." I spun around and tore through the still dancing people, my fingers slipping from Oli's.

I didn't cry though. Walking down the street, I never let a tear fall. I was too strong for that. Plus it wasn't like he hurt me or anything, it was just that I let myself fall. I left my walls down and my heart open and he walked right in. It wasn't easy letting people in, you get hurt when you do that, they take you for granted. What the hell had gotten into me?

The streets were nearly empty, only because it was almost 2 in the morning. And it was cold. Freezing actually, my legs grew numb as I walked and goosebumps raced up my arms. I folded my arms over my chest and tried to produce more body heat. I failed miserably.
