I turned on the next street and parked Infront of a house. The van follows but stops when he realizes that I saw him.
"Your not all that sneaky, I saw you from the moment I pulled out of the gas station." I yelled after the driver.
He drives the car until his window faces me. I expected a man just as big as the others but this one was small. I could take him in one second. His light brown hair looks darker from afar. Why did I find it comforting when his hazel eyes bore into my plain brown ones.
"Being subtle is more your thing Troian."
My eyebrows furrowed when he says my name. "How do you know my name? Did Deborah send you too, God that woman is a bitch"
"What do you mean?" It was his turn to send me that confused look.
"Come on. Get out, I'll give you your dose of beating and you can tell Ms Pratt, her daughter says next time come by yourself."
I pull open the door handle and lean against his chest to press the button to unbuckle his belt "Troian, what ar-"
His sentence is interrupted by my finger on his lips. "It's easier when you don't talk ok, now this might hurt" I pull him out of the van and throw him against the road.
"Troian, stop, it's me-"
By the time he stopped I had kicked him so hard I sent him flying against the house which created a crack. My eyes widen thinking I might have just killed someone. My heart clenches and my eyes become teary. I could feel every nerve breaking all for a stranger. My body was shaking and I turned away.
I should be running, I could leave and no one will know I was here. I jump when I hear a groan and quickly turn around. Relief washes over me when I see him get up. My eyes widen in horror as the guy twists his neck back out and back into place. The tears that threatened to Come out leave my eyes and wet my cheeks.
A faint glow of blue eyes on his face aren't what made me sprint. It was the sudden growth of teeth and claws. "Oh come on Troian, don't run."
I kept running down the street passing several houses and turning on every corner I saw. I didn't know weather or not he had followed me or if he left. The faint sound of breathing and quite steps assured me that he had followed me so I never stopped.
An arm reaches for me and I gasp when he covers my mouth and his blue eyes glow demanding attention. Anger all of a sudden rises and I howl against him and he lets me go rolling around against the corner like disobedient dog. His groans were innocent and I could hear faint apologies.
"Who are you?"
"Drew, I'm your guardian."
My eyes widen and I take a step back. "What does Deborah want?"
Drew stands up and he seemed to be back to normal. "How am I supposed to know. Your the one that went after her. Where have you been Troy"
"What do you mean?"
"I've been out in these streets looking for you, do you know how hard it was to get in contact with the people that work for Deborah. The council is worried sick of your absence but they denied going after you"
"Stop stop stop. I can't process this all at once." I sigh and crash on the grass. We were in an ally between two house that lead to their back yards. I roll back against one of the houses and crash there putting my feet up to my chest.
"We don't have time to sit and process. We are in her territory and she's not going to stop hunting us down. Last time she caught you, you were gone for three months. She erased every trace of you, no scent or tracks"
"Or memories" I say heaving a sigh.
"What?"
I stare up at him. As weird as it was, I found trust in this stranger. I've been running on nothing but pure instincts and adrenaline all day so what's the harm.
"She took my memories. I can't remember anything, I don't know who I am, where I am, or even what I am. I've been walking around trusting my instincts and just beating up people who want to sell me."
"How did you get away from Deborah"
"I gave her a heavy dose of anaesthetics"
The guy cracks up and his crouch becomes a seat as we got comfortable with each other. "That's good."
"At first I was worried she died but now I wish she would"
"Don't worry that's natural for you. She's your evil mom who just wants your powers. I'm surprised she didn't take them already. "
"My powers?" I say my brows furrowing and he sighs.
"This is just great Troy. Ya had to hunt down your crazy mother, and now I have to train you all over again. Your the most hardest person to train you know that?"
"Would you please explain to me what the hell I am"
"Your a werewolf. A female one and a rare breed."
"I'm guessing that's not a good thing"
He shakes his head and bites his lip. I could smell the aggression and it smelled rabid. "It's a very good thing for you as a wolf. But as a mundane it just means everyone wants to kill you. But what the other wolves don't understand is that times have changed. You can't steal the powers from El Guardián de la Luna."
"Who's that?"
"The guardian of the moon. That's you. Usually the role of guardians is given to males. But once in every blue moon a female is chosen to be El Guardián de la Luna."
"You said you were my guardian. So what does that make you"
"El Guardián del Guardián de la Luna. It mean the guardian of the guardian of the moon. Repetitive and mouth full if you asked me but I honour my position where as you Troy, you give everyone a reason to come chase you. Making my job harder than usual"
I laugh and he stands up giving me a hand. I take his hand and he pulls me up. We start to walk back to my bike and his van when he continues "The blue moon doesn't come for another 200 years."
"So I'm basically immortal"
"That's disgusting. No. It just means you have a long time to live. You are far from immortal my friend."
"This job sounds hectic. Do I at least get any cool powers"
"You can do things you can't imagine. You hold the power of the four elements right in the palm of your hands. You can do every thing from breaking the ground below to showering us from above. It's all in those small hand of yours"
"Can I fly?"
Drew breaks into a laughter so hard he had to hold his stomach and my hand for balance. He tries to regain himself and stands up but fails. A couple more waves of laughter and he finally settles down "that's exactly what you asked me the first time I trained you"
"Well?"
"No Troy, you can transport, race against time, blaze a fire so strong to put a whole forest on fire only to make it rain and stop the fire. You can heal every living creature and cause the most bizarre of storms. but you can't fly"
