Rather unfortunate news

You have probably already heard this, and if you're a fan of David Bowie you might be very sad after what has happened recently. (I'm devastated, but getting better.)

David Bowie died of cancer, at the age of 69. He had been battling cancer for about 18 months, and had kept quiet about it. He released his latest album, Lazarus, on his 69th birthday, two days before his death.

I loved him so much. Bowie was an enigma, an extraordinary human being. He did so many amazing things in his lifetime, produced so much amazing music and inspired so many people. He changed the world. He was so so unique, different and out there, a beacon for those of us who don't quite fit where society wants us to.

I remember watching Labyrinth when I was younger and first falling in love with him. Listening to his music and the many times I requested to listen to it on the radio, or at school discos or places playing music, and how excited and happy I would be upon hearing it. I might flit between music genres and always change my taste, but David Bowie has always remained one of my favourites. I had always wished I could meet him, and I'm sure many people wished the same. It doesn't matter whether or not I knew him personally, the connection I felt to him through his music and the love I felt for him made his death really feel personal. He will be immortal through his music, but this loss is still felt greatly. Our starman will be missed </3
