(Remi's Point of View)

I stood impatiently as Mom delivered her speech to the students. I was ready to get to the podium and call roll for my third period students. We were skipping first and second so everybody could get their students together and give my Mother the spotlight she so desperately desired. I must have zoned out because I came back to hearing applause from everybody. I guess she was done. "Now we will have the mathematics department first up to call their students." She stepped away from the podium to allow a chubby Caucasian man get to it. He called his students and they exited the gym. The same with a small framed black woman, and again with a tall, slender black man. Finally though, it was my turn. I have to say, I was rather nervous and excited.

"Good morning, I am Ms. Evans and I am calling my third period AP Calculus students. When I call your names, you can just line up by the left sides exit. Please and thank you." I smiled and looked around sweetly. I was doing kind of good, right? "Jayda Adams." I said starting off the short list of twenty students. "And last but not least, Melody Young." I put the microphone back into the slot of the post and walked over to my senior class of AP Calculus students. "Follow me." I said as I began walking down the math hall.

I couldn't help but feel as if I was being watched. Then again it could have been first day jitters. I opened the door to the blue and white room and sat down my phone and room keys. "Sit wherever you want but I do believe in unassigned assigned seats. Don't try me." I raised an eyebrow and examined everybody. I heard some soft laughter from everyone.

I turned around and grabbed a dry erase marker. I wrote my last name on the board along with AP Calculus and underlined the AP part. "I'm sure someone in here knows what AP means, right?" I said with a smirk. A boy in the back raised his hand slightly. I nodded my head towards him and rested my hands on my desk in front of me. "It means advanced placement." I sighed and grinned. What? I'm a smiley person. "You are very correct, what's your name?" I said. "My name is Hunter Burnett." He seemed to be the quiet, smart preppy type. "I have a friend named Hunter. He's a private pathologist." Hunter nodded. "Let's all introduce ourselves row by row and down the line." Everyone began introducing themselves very quietly and shyly.

Then there was a girl in the back on the very last row, in the very last desk. She seemed to be introverted. I walked over to her desk as the other students began having their own conversations. "Hi, my name is Ms. Evans and I am your AP Calc. teacher." I extended my hand and she took it and shook it. "My name is Jayda Adams. I go by Jay so please, no disrespect Ms. Evans but please call me Jay." She smiled and my heart stopped for a second. She was so..lord I couldn't find a word to describe the sight before my eyes.

She was no shorter than five foot nine, haircut with designs on the side and the top was nice and curly. I wanted to touch her hair so bad. "Tell me about yourself, Ms. Evans. If it's okay with you, I'd like to know more about your teaching life. I want to be sure my senior year will be the best." She leaned foreword in her desk and closer to me slightly. I grabbed the desk in front of her, turned it around and sat down. "Well, I'm over qualified in my young age if that's what you're worried about." I quirked an eyebrow, I do that a lot. "Really? How old are you?" She bit on her lip while smiling and my breathing slowed. "I'm twenty-four and yes, I am." She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off as the bell rang indicating it was time to change to fourth. She stood and grabbed her bag. "We aren't done. I need to know about my teachers. Plus I suck at math, I might need extra help." I smiled once again to match hers. "I got you. Have a nice day Ms. Adams- I mean Jay." I turned around and walked back to my desk. She walked out of the door making eye contact with me as she did. I could've sworn she winked at me. I blushed and stood at my desk awaiting the next class. Man, who was that.
