North's POV
The wind bit at my face and tousled my hair as I trudged home. Numbness was starting to creep it's way into my fingers and cheeks.
"Dammit," I muttered as I crossed my arms in a futile effort to keep warm. "The first time I forget a jacket."
The side walk I was following was lined with a row of pear trees. The sky was gray and unchanging as always. I looked up into the sky then a thought raced through my mind. I was seeing my mother today, the very mother who Rose and I suspected to be an angel, a very powerful angel. I let out a long sigh, this was about to get complicated.
I wonder how long I had been walking. My thoughts were scattering like leaves in the gale force winds of fall. It didn't really matter though, I wasn't really thinking about anything, accept for maybe walking. But I had much more important things to think about than putting one foot in front of the other. Like Rose.
I shivered, and ran a hand through my wind blown and slightly tangled auburn hair. Rose, Rose, Rose. You know people say that if you repeat a word too many times it looses its meaning. Rose, Rose, Rose, Rose. I don't think that word, or that name rather will ever loose it's meaning.
I know I must sound crazy, because I'm just in Highschool, I'm just a freshman, but I don't know how life would be bearable without Rose. She is like, an angel, isn't that ironic. She is so caring, sweet and understanding, she is just so, rosey. She is mine, my princess. I felt my cheeks heat up as I thought of her. A memory passed through my mind....
"North come on!" Rose squealed as she grabbed my hand and led me down a trail into the woods. Not sure this was the safest choice for our 3rd date but I wasn't complaining, we were on a date after all. She tugged me along as leaves and twigs crunched under her gray converse. The forest was dense and tall birches lined the dirt path we followed. Suddenly, Rose stopped causing me to accidentally bump into her. I stood beside her and marveled at the view in front of me.
The forest opened into a clearing of long strands of dry grass, and wild flowers. The clearing was vast, the grass was an ocean that moved with the wind. There were so many wild flowers, purple, blue, red, the colors were spectacular. Rose gasped in awe of the beauty, she looked over at me and smiled. I picked one of the nearby blue bells and handed the delicate flower to her.
"For you, my princess." I said dramatically bowing. She giggled as she accepted the flower from me. Her cheeks matched the pink color of the flowers. She leaned in close to me.
"And for you my prince." She whispered as she lightly planted a kiss on my cheek.....
I could feel the smile growing on my face as the memory faded. I touched my cheek where she had kissed me. I missed the alone time we had shared during the summer.
Once I came out of my lovesick daze, a familiar house came into view. I walked up to the front door of my mothers house and turned the knob.
"I'm home!" I called as I stepped inside the door way.
