Once upon a time, there laid a town. A town called Williamsville. In Williamsville, they celebrate only certain things. They celebrate weddings, they celebrate funerals, and they celebrate living another year; or, what you and I may call, a birthday. But, today is different. Today, we at Williamsville are celebrating life. That’s right, today a baby will be born to none other than the Williams.
The Williams are Williamsville's most appreciated family. Some of the townspeople even believe that the Williams were Williamsville's rightful founders. Isaac and Clare Williams have been blessed with a child. This child is unique in every way, shape, and form.
The townspeople crowd in front of the Williams family home as they wait for the news of the child. The mother's were wishing for a boy so their daughters could marry him and become a Williams. The fathers were hoping for a girl so their sons could marry her and so they could conceive a child with the young girl.
Inside the home, Dr. Henry O’Neal was leading the baby out of Clare. The child came feet first. This was a serious emergency. They didn’t have the medical equipment to get the baby out without possibly harming it and they didn’t have the medicine to relieve the pain from the mother. Loud screams and crying came from the mother as she bleed and pushed. Pushed and bleed. The father was crying as well, just not as loudly. He couldn’t stand hearing his loving wife in the other room scream for her god to take her life and relieve her of her pain. So, against the wishes of the doctor, Isaac bursted into the room to see the blood that laid beneath her due to the small human being that’s making it’s way out of her.
He ran to her side, clenching her hand. In that moment, in that pain and sorrow, he asked his darling with something. He asked her what she felt about the child that was causing her so much pain. In a bursting cry and scream, she said “Rage!” At that long and sorrow filled scream, the doctor pulled the child out of it’s mother and tied the umbilical cord.
Isaac and Clare watched as the doctors eyes widened at the sight of the child. The child was small. Its eyes were already wide open revealing two green eyes, which neither the mother nor father had. On top its head, it had two small protruding bumps and a small tail. It looked right at it’s mother with a small smile and gave a small wave by curling its fingers slightly. The doctor went to check its gender to see it was a boy.
The doctor looked up to Isaac and Clare with a weary smile on his face. He thought the couple will want to get rid of their new child. But he thought that if he was to have them name it, they wouldn’t be able to get rid of it. The doctor hadn’t even that of the small new child as a human yet. “What would you like to name your new baby boy?” The doctor asked Isaac.
Isaac, in his stoney state of resentment from the newly born child, said something that took the doctor off guard. “Rage. His name shall be Rage, for that is what Clare purely felt as he was inside her.” He said scornfully as he looked at his wife with fury in his eyes. Clare looked at him with sorrow in her eyes. “Oh, my dear, I felt those things for it hurt. But I also felt a large love as I remembered that it was god who had given us this miracle. Don’t you see?” She defended weakly as she placed her hand on the side of his face gently.
After seeing this reaction between the two, the doctor knew that, if anything, he mother shall love the child no matter what. The father, on the other hand, may possibly disown the child just at the sight of it, as he had already half disowned it for causing Clare pain. The doctor walked up the opposite side to the bed to the mother and placed the bundled up baby into her arms.
“Are you ready to see you first born son?” She asked her husband with a tired smile. He smiled faintly with a slight nod and leaned over slightly to see the face of his son as the mother gently pulled over the blanket the child was wrapped in to reveal it’s face. Once the face was revealed, a small child smiled up to his mother and father, which was returned with a smiling mother and a horrified father.
“My god. No god could have gifted us such a...a thing! It’s a spawn of satan! Look! It has horns coming through it’s head! We can’t possibly allow the town to see this!” Isaac went on as he pointed at the child, who had begun crying and was held close by his mother. Clare stared at her raving husband with a sore scowl. “How could you possibly say those things about your own child?” Isaac just simply laughed at this statement. “That thing is not my child.” He said it sternly. “This is your child.”
After a long discussion, Isaac told the doctor to notify the townspeople outside that their child had died, when, in fact, the child hadn’t. Rage will be locked away in a room in the family home. Will he earn the trust of his father? Will the townspeople learn of his existence? Is he actually the spawn of Satan? Keep reading to find out. Earning the answers to your many questions is no fun without an adventure.
