Chapter 5
Reaching Out From Within—When Dreams Come True
Just as Globie was falling asleep she thought she heard something, but it was too dark
to see and after all they had been through she wasn't sure she wanted to hear nor see
anything more.. Sunny had lost a lot of his glow in that last ordeal and was resting
peacefully, so Globie tried to just go back to sleep, not wanting to bother or wake poor tired Sunny. But again she thought she heard
something. This time she nudged Sunny and asked, "Did you hear that?"
"Hear what Globie?" "Shhh, listen." They both sat quietly and listened.
Then they both heard it. It was the sound of something crying, but it was too dark
to see anything. Globie said without thinking "oh I wish there was more light so we could see". Sunny knew it was up to him to shine a light, so even though he was
plum out of energy, he knew there was something out there in the darkness,
lost and crying, and needing help, and once again he didn't want to let Globie down, so he reached deep inside and found whatever bit of strength he had left. He began huffing and puffing, burning anything and everything he had left or could find
within himself, so he could flare up just a little brighter...
he was giving it all he had. Soon, little by little, Sunny began to get brighter and brighter with
every minute, pretty soon there was a huge explosion "BOOM!!!!"
and Sunny had grown in size into a giant brightly burning star.
Globie was astonished. She had never seen Sunny so big and bright.
It was like he had grown into a full grown-up star.
Globie was so proud of Sunny's transformation, so proud that he was able to do this and give everything he had to help. Sunny had exploded into a big bright burning star and now there was enough light to see everything. Sunny was now just like that star he had admired. Globie looked on with amazement. Covering her eyes from Sunny's Brit light. She yelled at him "what happened? What did you do?" Then Sunny answered in a big deep voice, "I don't know I was just trying my hardest to get brighter so we could see" Globie then noticed how deep Sunny's voice had gotten and knew Sunny had grown up into a real star, Sunny had found his dream.
Globie yells at Sunny "Sunny you have become your dream, I am so happy for you!!!" But deep inside Globie felt sad her dream had not come true. Then she heard the crying again and realized she had no time to feel sorry for herself there was something needing help out there and also she did not want to take away from Sunny's moment. So she started looking again trying to see what was crying in the darkness.
"There! There it is!" said Globie. "I see something. I see something!"
There in the darkness was a small, tiny little sparkling reflection. Globie and Sunny
raced over to it and found a tiny shivering ball of ice shaking and crying.
Globie asked, "What's the matter little one?"
The little ball of ice replied, "My name is Moonie and my star exploded and
sent me, and all the rest of the solar system that my Mother and I called home,
flying into the abyss, in all directions and I lost my mother planet" cried Moonie. "And I have ended up here all alone without my Mother planet and my Star-Sun to keep me warm. Now I'm freezing to death and dying of loneliness."
Without a second thought, and completely forgetting all about her own problems
and misery, Globie volunteered that they would do all they could to help little Moonie.
"We won't let you freeze to death, we'll help you. Won't we, Sunny?" Globie encouraged.
Globie knew that even though she was drained and exhausted that they
had to help this little Moon who was in much deeper trouble than either of them were.
After all, they had each other, and this little moon had no one.
"Quick," Globie said, "get on my back and Sunny will warm you up."So, as Globie
raced around and around, Sunny reached yet further inside himself hoping he had
some energy left. He closed his eyes and started believing that no matter what,
he could do it, he had to do it, he had to help...
So she thought of what to do and came up with the idea of putting
Moonie on her back and continued her orbit around Sunny
so Moonie could quickly warm up and be free of all the cold ice.
So she raced around Sunny round and round.
Soon all the ice began to melt away revealing
a cute little cratered Moon. Both Sunny and Globie were so busy
making sure that Moonie was okay and Moonie was busy thawing out
and learning how to smile again, that none of them noticed what had happened
to Globie. It was then that Sunny and Moonie noticed that Globie had also
gone through a magnificent transformation. They both just sat there
and stared at Globie in surprise and amazement.
"What ARE you guys looking at?" wondered Globie.
"Wow!" said Sunny, "you've changed, you're beautiful."
"What do you mean?" asked Globie with excitement.
"You have all these beautiful, fluffy white clouds floating all over you,
and glowing arcs of colored rainbows filling your new bright blue skies.
All the ice had turned to water and filled all the craters and cracks you had received
from the journey with gorgeous blue and green seas and rivers, and there are now
green pastures, and purple mountains, and flowers of every color growing all over
your once dry reddish landscape!"
Globie looked at herself and was awestruck at what had happened.
She looked bewildered. Could this be what she had been looking for all this time?
Could she have found her purpose for living?
Then she looked at Sunny and said cheerfully, "I think I found what I was looking for,
my life now has purpose, I feel like I now have a LIFE!"
"You do!" proclaimed Sunny, "I think you do!"
"We did it! We did it! We found what we were looking for."
"Yes, and I know what I have to do now too," said Moonie.
"What's that?" asked Globie.
"I have to move the tides!" said Moonie, "just like I did before," and she began whirling
round and round Globie, and Globie was whirling round and round Sunny.
All three of them were filled with insurmountable joy.
Not only did they find each other, but they had each found a new place and purpose in
their lives. Sunny was now a full-grown star, Globie was an awesome living planet,
and little Moonie had a new home.
They were all so happy and fulfilled, dancing and singing around each other
they filled the heavens with their blissful music. But then, they all abruptly stopped.
...looking at each other they asked, "What do we do now?" said Globie.
"We've found our dreams, the search is over, right?"
"Yeah, but i don't think that means we can't have new dreams," said Sunny
Globie, in full bloom with her new purpose, also reflected back to her original situation
with Sunny and said, "You know, my role as a solitary planet orbiting around
Sunny also played a part in keeping order in the Universe.
I had a purpose then too. This adventure taught me so many things. One of those lessons
was in realizing that your dreams only come true when you are willing to go after them,
and that no matter how bad you think you have it, there is someone that has it worse,
and if you reach out to help them, you might just be helping yourslef as well.
I also learned that there are many stars and planets that are quite happy in their orbits for
long times, and soon we too will be comfortable in our own little place in the Universe."
"So," Globie continued, "even though our search for what each of us wanted and needed
has been fulfilled, doesn't mean that our journey has to end!"
"Right!" agreed Sunny and Moonie. They all looked at each other with the biggest smiles
they ever had and all three shouted, "FORWARD and Onward!!"
Cheerfully and with a new found zest and enthusiasm they soared out into the never
ending openness...and with a wink and a twinkle in their eyes, the three best friends
cheered as they faded into the distance...
knowing that life is what happens to you as you pursue your dreams and
discovery is the journey that never ends...
...What once were hurtful scars, craters, crevices, and cracks...
are now what makes for beautiful lakes, seas, and rivers.
...what was once a blemish is now a source of beauty.
...we are richer for the things that happen to us...
How we become who we wish we were...
