Goodbyes are the hardest

It was the summer before my senior year of college and I was part of a foreign exchange program. I was going to be going to a college in Nashville Tennesse. I was going to arrive 5 days before the beginning of school year, so i  had to leave in a week. I was in the middle of packing when my best friend Lilly came barging through the door."Mel!" she said hugging me" I am going to miss you so much"

"I'm going to miss you too Lilly" I said hugging her back.

"We need to make this the best week of vacation ever." Lilly said finally letting go of me

"Ok well what are we going to do"

"Well i was thinking since you are mostly already packed I thought we could go to the beach for a day then another day we can go to some arcades and the rest of the week is up to you"

"Ok well i think one day we should definitely go shopping because I think I am going to need some new looks for this trip."

"Of course we will go shopping especially if you are going to be near the Follese residence"

" That's right they do live in Nashville" Lilly and I were great fans of Hot Chelle Rae and we always wanted to see them in concert but our parents always said we were to young and they havn't been in England for years." Wait Lilly isn't Ryan going to college right now because he is the same age as us."

" Omg! What if you live in there house you have to tell me when you find out."

" I will don't worry since I am finished packing do you want to go shopping?"

" Yeah lets go." The week went by so fast and it was soon my last day at my home and it was time to say goodbye. I still didn't know who i was going to live with yet, I would find ot when i got to the school. I walked outside to where all of my family was standing and started saying goodbye. Lilly was takng me to the airport so I didnt have to say goodbye just yet because that one was going to be the hardest. I finished saying my goodbyes and got into the car. Lilly was driving. It started as a silent car ride until Lilly put in a Hot Chelle Rae CD. I looked at her and of course The Distance had to come on as we pulled into the airport. We grabbed my bags from the trunk and made our way into the lobby. "One ticket to Nashville Tennesse please"  I asked the person asked the desk

"Ok. Your flight will be taking off in an hour so you have a half an hour before you board." She said as she handed me the ticket.

"Ok. Thank you" I replied. Lilly and I went to the sitting area and before we knew it thee was an announce for my flight to board. "Well I guess this is it" I said trying to hold back the tears.

"Promise me we will skype and facetime everyday."She said starting to cry. I pulled her into a giant hug and we both broke down into tears. I pulled away before I was going to be late to my flight. " I am gong to miss you so much." I said as she hugged me one last time. I walked slowly to my flight not wanting to look back and see Lilly crying. I finally boarded the plane and was off to my new home for 6 months.
