Kierra's POV (Ki-Ra)

"Kierra! Adreanne!" My mother yelled from the dining area.

I continued to text and check my Instagram notifications.

"I know y'all heard me!" I slowly walked in and flopped on the couch. My little sister Adrea followed behind me. My iPhone buzzed repeatedly so I mugged my mom impatiently.

Mom looked at us with an emotionless face, "We're getting evicted this weekend."

Boom. Just like that. No sweet words before throwing that at us. And suddenly I was completely at lost for words. The buzzing stopped. I was numb. My mouth was dry. And everything was silent. A single tear slid down my cheek, as I tried to gather some words.

"I lost my job. I don't have any money. And now I have to find a place for us to live in three days." Mom's voice got soft and raspy because she was choking from the tears streaming down her face and the lump in her throat.

I wiped my tear and hugged her waist. She continued to sob while I rubbed her back gently.

"It's fine ma. This isn't anything that we can't get through." And it was true. I was somewhat used to all the good things in life suddenly crashing down.

She finally dried her face. "Yeah, baby. It will be fine. We just have to stick through this together and pray."

"It'll be fine?! Are y'all serious?? We..are..poor!" Adrea said through gritted teeth with hot tears flowing freely. "We ain't got nothing!"

Of course. Little Miss Negative had to bring us back down. She always had to push away what little hope we had for the future.

I looked at her from the corner of my eye with a look of sadness, "Why can't you just give Mama a break? Cause if it's that bad maybe you should go live with your daddy!"

"At least I have a daddy that wants to be around me! Where is your dad at? When is the last time he treated you like his child instead of a piece of crap?"

Adrea said it so quickly with absolutely no look of remorse. She stood there smirking, waiting for me to retaliate. All I could do was stand there. Physically I was calm but mentally... I was yearning to jump across my mom and beat her until my knuckles bled.

"Adrea, apologize to your sister right now. That was so rude and hateful," my mom said.

I gave Ma a reassuring smile to convince her that I was fine.

"It's all good Ma. I don't need her weak apology." With that being said, I walked to my room to think of what the next three days had in store for us.
