Kierra's POV

I managed to make it through the day with some of my sanity left. I was so worn out from the constant questions, awkward stares, and people bumping into me. Did anyone know what "excuse me" meant anymore? I got fed up and started slamming into people too. That's when they started to get out the way.

When school was out my mom was waiting in Lea's car for me. Mikey, Levi, and Kailan occupied the back seat of my aunts two door 2013 Honda. I jumped in the front and we were off to get Adrea.

"How was the first day, baby?" my mom asked with a small smile.

I sighed heavily before answering, "It was straight, I guess. Nothing special to discuss though."

She nodded, sensing my lack of interest in this discussion.

We pulled up to the middle school and Adrea walked slowly to the car. I got out so she could pull up the seat.

"Whatchu doin'?"

"Adrea just get in the car. I'm too tired to fuss."

"Get in the back then."

"No. Look, today ain't the day. Get in the car!"

"Nope" she said popping the 'p' hard.

"Maaa. Can you get your daughter?"

"Adreanna. Get yo tail in this car! And put Kai's seat in the trunk. You gone have to hold him 'til we get home."

She bumped me as she put the seat in the trunk. She took her time getting in just to get on my nerves. Adrea is so childish. I slammed the seat back and got in the car. The ride was filled with a loud silence that showed how irritated we all were.

Friday-

I sat at lunch with an empty stomach but a mind full of thoughts. I had lost my appetite long ago.

-Flashback-

I was walking to my seat in fourth period when I accidentally bumped into this guy's desk. Before I could even get my apology out, he was cursing me out.

"Well, dang fat girl! Watch where tf you're going! You almost broke my desk with yo big butt."

I rushed to my seat causing me to bump into more desks. My face was hot with embarrassment and shame. I closed my eyes tightly to secure the tears but it only helped a little. There was no way I'd let them see me cry on the second day.

"You need to shut up Quan! That was so disrespectful!" DeDe yelled. All the laughter instantly stopped.

I nudged her, pleading with my watery eyes for her to just let it go.

"Nah, that was uncalled for and his ugly self needs to apologize. Now."

Quan looked at me with disgust then muttered a pathetic "I'm sorry".

"You can keep that weak apology. I don't need it."

"Man 'eff it then! You still fat and ugly. With 'dem baggy pants and 'dat boy shirt." His friends dapped him up and bust out laughing.

I put my head down and impatiently waited on the bell to signal dismissal.

-End of flashback-

"You wanna walk with me to get a Powerade?" Ariana asked.

"Nah."

"You okay?"

"I'm good, Boot," I lied. Again.

"Well the day is almost over. You can make it."

I exhaled and kept checking the time, waiting for 3:30 to arrive.

Sunday-

This weekend has been miserable for me. All I could think about was how ugly I felt Friday. I had to do something. Ain't no way I was going back to school lookin' a mess. I looked through my closet and came across these khakis I got from WalMart. They were a 16 and hugged my hips snugly. Perfect. Then I looked for a shirt but came up with nothing. I checked my purse and saw I had some extra money. It was time for a little shopping.

After begging my mom for a while, she finally agreed to take me to the store to find a shirt. I walked in and immediately found what I was looking for. A black button down with mid-length sleeves. I tried it on and it too was perfect.

All that was left was to buy some more tracks. This sew-in was through. I searched in the beauty supply store for some weave within my budget and voila, there it was. I purchased it and was excited to go home and hook up my hair.

As soon as we pulled up in the yard, I ran in the house and began doing my hair. I cut and styled it in a cute bob that was the same length all around. I had my honey brown highlights at the top. I wrapped my hair, laid out my outfit, and called it a night. I was anxious for morning to arrive.
