We sat at Joey's for a couple of hours. I liked Joey's because the owner was really nice, he was actually called Joey and every time I come in he gives me a free drink. Yes, he may have a crush on me but we're not in high school. "See ya Joey!" I waved as we left.

"Ms. Trainor! It's been a pleasure serving you! See you soon, okay?"

"Yes Joey," I chuckled. He really was sweet, just not my type. Besides he's more of a brother to me at this point. "Mmm," I hummed stepping outside into warm spring air.

"So, you and Joey?" Emmy asked as we waited for that all too familiar black SUV with tinted windows and a drivers compartment that hid an arrogant boy with beautiful hazel eyes. "That a thing?"

"What?!" I gasped, "No! No, no, no! He's a really good guy, don't get me wrong. But he's not my type and he's more of a brother to me than a romantic interest."

"How is he like a brother to you? You've literally been in LA a few days," she stated correctly.

"Very true, very true. But he moved here from Tucket, he went to Regional," I explained.

"Oh."

"Yeah, so you got a curfew Ms. Palmer?" I asked chuckling.

"I actually do!" She laughed, "My husband would like me back by 6:00 and it's-" she checked her phone, "Oh fuck! It's 5:00 now! How in the hell?"

"It's okay, I text hazel eyes, he should be here soon enough," I told her. 5 minutes ticked by and he finally arrived. The familiar black leather seats and closed black drivers compartment told me it was the one. We climbed in and Emmy went back to her house, only 10 minutes late. "Bye Emmy!"

"Bye Meggles!" She waved with a chuckle and I giggled at her. I wound up the window and just sat with my earphones in when, surprisingly, the black separator started slipping down.

"Meghan," Charlie attempted at a genuine smile, which I couldn't help being confused by.

"Uh, hey hazel eyes," I greeted, also smiling a minuscule smile. What does this guy want from me? He's never been this nice in the entire time I've known him, which granted, is only a few days, but never once has he smiled or looked at all happy unless it was a sarcastic smile or remark. Is he okay..? "Are you... feeling okay?" I asked. His smile dropped.

"What?"

"It just..." I was really regretting this, "You're never...nice to me," I spoke finally.
'Like ever' I thought to myself.

"I know, but can't a guy change?" He asked, once again trying a tentative smile. It actually suited him. He should smile more often...

"No, not in the space of-" I checked my watch, "-three minutes."

"Give me a chance?" He asked hopefully, his hazel eyes, for the first time since I'd known him, sparkling and brimming with emotion.
'Huh, he's not as emotionless as I first thought'

"Hmm," I thought out loud, "Oh okay then, it can't hurt."

"Great!" He exclaimed gleefully, "Okay, do you mind if I take you somewhere?"

"No, not at all," I beamed. I'm glad we can be friends at least. Maybe even more than that...

No Meghan! He's your driver, keep things as professional as you can. Anyway, at any point he could turn back to who he was before.

Goddammit I hate when my good conscience is right. He smiled in the drivers mirror and I smiled back. "So where are we going?" I asked curiously.

"You'll just have to wait and see," he smirked. I shook my head with a smile. I liked him, this guy. Charles... Charlie.

"So, is it Charles or Charlie now?" I question, perplexed of what to call him.

"Call me Charlie," he grinned. We pulled up at an ice cream shop and I couldn't help but clap my hands in excitement. I loved ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream? I mean... It's ICE CREAM! Seriously, ice cream is my bæ. "Excited much?" Charlie chuckled.

"I love ice cream," I expressed happily.

"I can see that." The car door opened and Charlie stood there wearing a smile. "Ms. Trainor," he nodded. We got out of the car and into the store, immediately I was hit with the sweet smell of fresh ice cream. Chocolate and strawberry and raspberry swirl... We got up to order. The line was longer than I was expecting.

"This place good?" I asked, obviously new to town.

"Yeah, best in LA in my opinion," he nodded at me smiling. I grinned. I love ice cream, especially good ice cream. Especially cookie dough. We ordered, Charlie got chocolate fudge brownie and I got my favourite (cookie dough). We sat in a red leather retro booth and waited for our icy, dairy goodness to arrive.

"I love ice cream!" I exclaimed again, really happy. He chuckled at me. Finally our desert arrived and I wasted no time in digging in. I moaned as the taste hit my tongue and danced a dance with my tastebuds.

"You enjoy that?" He asked rhetorically but I nodded all the same. We quickly finished up and got back into the car. We were just making idle talk whilst we drove back to my house. Suddenly I heard the sound of tyre's screeching and I felt the sudden jolt of hard impact as we went spinning out control. The entire car spun and Charlie was unconscious, crimson blood dripping from a cut on his forehead.

And then the world went black.
