The week passed by quickly; too quickly for my liking. I woke up earlier than usual to the smell of bacon cooking, the smell wafting up from the downstairs. I moaned lightly at the heavenly smell and picked a sleepy Biggie up, pressing our noses together. "You want some bacon, Bigz?" I asked her unamused face. She just looking into my eyes, staring and blinking as dogs do before she licked my chin lightly. "Thank you, I love you too," I chuckle at my puppy, placing her down on the floor whilst I brush through my hair. After a small while I'd managed to comb through the tangled mess of knots my hair had become during the night. I tied it into a messy ponytail to keep it out of my face and changed into a pair of leggings and a baggy t-shirt. I practically skipped downstairs and chirped a greeting to my dad, "Hey dad."
"Why so happy sweetie?" he chuckled lightly, putting the French toast on plates. Tomorrow was my mom and dads last day here, making today their last full day. At least for now. I'm sure they'll be back soon enough.
"I'm not sure," I shrugged lightly, "I just... I woke up this happy," I laughed.
"Well you're certainly like an excitable puppy, it's good to see you're recovering well, sweetie. You make a start on your breakfast and I'll go and get your mother and your two lazy brothers," he grinned at me, ruffling my hair which I groaned at. Not only was I no longer seven, but I'd just brushed that!
"Dad!" I whined which earned me nothing but a chuckle and a fleeting:
"I'm not sorry darling." I rolled my eyes and started on my bacon pancakes. If eaten all but half of it when the rest of my family finally showed up.
"Hey guys," I smiled with a mouth full of pancake.
"Uh, mouth closed when you're eating Meghan, have I taught you no manners?" My mom tutted and I I rolled my eyes.
"You taught us very well ma," I inform her truthfully, thinking back on my collection of happy childhood memories from Nantucket, "We just forget sometimes," I shrug, kissing her forehead and hugging her.
"Whatever did I do to deserve children like you three?" My mom sighed, looking at us fondly. I knew she was just sentimental because this was possibly the last time she'd see us in months.
"I mean I speak for me and Justin when I say that we're angels but I can't say much for Ryan," I chuckle sending him a smile and he gave me sarcastic grin in return.
"Now, now children don't be fighting," my dad laughs, we roll our eyes.
"Yes dad," we said in unison, smiling mischievously at each other. We continued to eat breakfast and laugh and talk like we were back in Nantucket. Time ticked by and we just spent it as a day in, all of us forgetting about that follow-up appointment until...
"MEGHAN YOU NEED TO GET READY YOUR APPOINTMENT IS IN AN HOUR!" My mom shouted from downstairs. I should clarify that I was upstairs, it's not like she was shouting down my ear or anything.
"OKAY," I replied, pulling myself up to start straightening my hair. My hair took about 10-20 minutes and then I tied it back whilst I quickly did my makeup. I didn't have time to do much so I just put mascara, a little foundation and my usual strawberry Chapstick. It took me a good 30 minutes to pick an outfit which left me with about two minutes to get out of the house and into the car that Ashton was driving. "Hey Ashton," I smiled as he held open the door.
