(I couldn't be bothered... Oops)Blake looked a mixture of hurt and enraged. Mainly mad. He turned red and clenched his fist at his side. He started to heave and I got scared, Charlie pulled me close to him and kept me in his arms. Blake launched at me, Charlie tried to pull me away but Blake still caught my stomach. I doubled over in pain and Charlie went red with anger. "Charlie," I heaved, "Don't make it worse." He visibly calmed down and put his hands up.
"Okay, okay. Let's stop this, both of us. You go home, Meghan and I will go inside, we can go out separate ways and you never have to see either of us again." Blake smiled a sickening smile that made my stomach throb more than it already was. That really hurt. He scoffed at Charlie and I, Charlie having already pulled me closer to him again. Blake drew back his fist again but Charlie punched him first, square in the nose, his nose started spilling crimson blood. I gasped, hating the sight. I got light headed at the red liquid. I hate blood. I squeezed my eyes shut to block it out and all I could hear were grunts and punches being thrown. To who, I didn't know. I sat kneeling on the floor with my hands covering my ears and my eyes squeezed tightly shut. All sounds were muffled and all around me was black. I heard the thudding if footsteps and then a moment of silence before struggling, finally, I heard voices.
"Hey!" Said a man with a deep, thick Texan accent, probably the thudding of feet on Tarmac before. "Boys! Look at her, look at her! Poor kid can't stand even looking or hearing you two! If it's her you're fighting over, rethink that. Yeah?"
Thank you, Texan man.
"Oh my god Meghan I'm so sorry," Charlie sighed, holding me in his arms. I moved my hands from my ears and wrapped my arms around his stomach, sat on his lap and nestled my head into his shoulder. I didn't dare look up at Blake, but I could hear his grunting and two men struggling to hold him back. The front door opened. I almost forgot that we were outside of my house.
"Hey!" Ryan's voice. "Jesus, Megs, what happened?" My throat closed up and it made it hard to breathe. Harder and harder until I was gasping for air, my lungs were burning for oxygen. "Meg?"
"Just... get... me... and... Charlie... in...side," I heaved, getting the words out in a splutter. Charlie picked me up bridal style and Ryan thanked the two men restraining Blake before hurrying inside with us. He sat me down on the couch and told me to match his breathing. My breaths stopped being as erratic as before. We need to calm down.
1 Month Later
"We haven't heard from Blake in a while." Charlie commented. My head was against the back of the couch, my legs sprawled across Charlie's lap as he twirled my blonde hair around his finger. I thought for a minute.
"Oh yeah." I agreed, "Weird." He nodded in agreement. I sighed and moved my head so it was closer to Charlie's then leaned forward and pecked him on the lips. "Whatever, I'm not complaining!" I giggled and he chuckled.
"Me either."
"You wanna go out somewhere?" I questioned, changing the subject. Charlie rose an eyebrow but shrugged. I grinned as we both got a glint in our eyes and chuckled, speaking at the same time.
"Ice cream?" Ice cream was sort of our thing, the first time it didn't go too well, but the second was perfect, as were all of the following. We were regulars at the ice cream parlor, so much so they started making tubs of raspberry swirl (we always got raspberry swirl) for us to take home. We picked it up from the parlour and then drove to the park and sat down with two plastic spoons eating it.
"This is perfect." I sighed contently, my head on his shoulder on a park bench.
"Mhm." He hummed in agreement. "I love you." He whispered, his voice being carried away by the wind.
"I love you too." I mumbled in response, taking another spoon of our nearly melted raspberry swirl ice cream. The sun was shining bright, casting a golden glow over the entire park making it look magical. "Wow." I whispered, closing my eyes and breathing in. He chuckled.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Came an unknown voice. He had a deep voice and a thick Texan accent that I thought sounded a little familiar. I opened my eyes to see a tall, middle-aged man wearing old jeans and a checkered button-up shirt. "Meghan Trainor am I right?" I nodded my head.
"Yeah, are you the guy that-"
"Stopped that other dude from fighting your boyfriend over here?" Charlie tensed slightly.
"Yeah, that."
He chuckled, "Yeah. I saw how upset you were, I couldn't not intervene," he shrugged, as though it was nothing. I took Charlie's hand off my hip and stood up, pulling the stranger into a hug. He stumbled at first, taken aback, but kind of relaxed into the awkward hug after a few seconds. "Thank you," I whispered. Although I didn't know the guy, if he hadn't broken up the fight, either Blake or Charlie would have ended up wth assault charges.
"No problem," he whispered back and I pulled away from the hug.
"Can I get your number?" I asked. "So I can properly thank you."
"No," he smiled warmly. "This is thank you enough, seeing you and your man happy together is good enough, I don't need any other thank you. Just, keep making music. Maybe even write a song about me, or your love to him. Whatever inspires you sweetheart. Just promise me you won't stop inspiring others."
"I'll try my hardest," I grinned and he walked away with a smile, leaving me and Charlie dumbfounded about what had just happened.
Thank you, Texan man.
