(Lilia's POV)

How you ever fell in love with your best friend but he never saw you like a woman?

Well, I'm in that situation right now. I'm in love with my best friend ever since I was little and he's name is Mark.

We were always together no matter what it was and what the situation was. However, nothing stays the same when we all have to grow up and change. Even if we are friends, he changed as the years went by. When we entered high school, he became popular while I was considered average. He always had people flocking to him. Although I felt happy for him since he's always with me, he didn't have much close friends except for me. Somehow, I felt bad because I felt like I was holding him back from making real friends. So in high school, I made him go out there and make friends while I told him that it was okay for me to be without him.

That's the moment that something in our friendship change, not in a bad way, but I could feel it as time went by.

He was hanging out with his friends more and he became so popular that I couldn't be near him. I could only watch him from afar during those days. I would see him smile, joke and even make good friends that he has now.

I, on the other hand, was felt alone. Don't get me wrong, I did have friends but not a best friend like him.

He's a good-looking guy and his smile made my day. He can look cool one moment and the next, he's such a goofball. He was the one for me but I never told him about my feelings. I just liked how our friendship was.

After high school, college came around. Life did change forever. Ever since high school, we would spend less time with one another but we still managed to hang out but rarely.

Anyways, in college, it was the first time I felt like the wind was sucked out of me, like my heart tighten. It was that feeling that made yourself want to cry. But being a good friend, I smiled and pretended to be happy for him.

For the first time, he got his first girlfriend. A girl that I never knew about. I couldn't say anything when he was happy to have a girlfriend.

~Flashback~

"Lilia!" I turned around to see Mark running towards me happily. I was walking outside towards the entrance when I heard him calling for me. I turned around with a smile on my face as I waited for him.

"Hey, Mark...What's up?...What's with the rush?" He stopped in front of me, trying to catch his breath. He made me wait for a moment until he was okay.

"Guess what?" I raised my brow in suspicion.

"You got in trouble?...Or you won the lottery?" He waved his hand in denial.

"No...I have good news...." He paused for a moment and looked around. When he found whatever he was looking for, he shouted a girl's name.

"Claries! Over here." A pretty girl came over and I have to say she's beautiful. She looked like a European porcelain doll with her golden hair, her blue round eyes and her small delicate lips. Hey, don't judge me when I'm checking this girl out.

When she got to us, she smiled sweetly at us and she blushed a bit when I saw Mark hold her hand on the side.

"Hey, Lilia...I want you to meet my girlfriend, Claries ...Claries, I want you to meet my friend, Lilia." My heart clenched when he said 'just friend' instead of 'best friend'. I know it's childish but I couldn't help that I wasn't even considered a best friend since it meant closer than his other friends. I wanted to feel closer to him in any way but now, I see how it is. I'm not a very close friend to him no more like it used to be.
