Stars and Gravity
Sabrina
"Why Sab? Why?" I stare at the big 84% mark at the top of the paper I was holding. Some of you may say, "You passed. What's wrong?"
But then it's a different story. If my parents wouldn't be forcing me to be at my best and always study and lock myself up my room, I would be satisfied with at least passing. To be honest, I didn't study for this quiz. My Biology proposal was due today, my history research draft was due today and my grandmother celebrated her birthday yesterday. You think I have time to booz my brains out over this? Please. I don't wanna die yet!
"Sab! Sab! What did you get at the English quiz? Look at me! I got a 97!!" announced Alex Isandra, a.k.a. Lexi, my best friend.
"Shut up Lexi. I got an 84. Beat that," she stared down at her paper and at me. "Dude, your parents.." She said
"I know, they are gonna kill me. Im so stupid, should have studied. Ugh, but then I'm gonna have no sleep again!" I said.
This is why I love summer. I get to sleep. All I do, all year is to study. Saturday, I study and half of Sunday, I sleep, then study. I have no sleep, regularly the whole week. So make-up is my bae... Yep.
"Ok, well then. See you at lunch, Mr. Pat might think I'm skipping again!" She rushed of to her next class.
I just stared blankly at my paper as people were passing by me. I wondered, what would mom and dad do to me? Ground me? Take my phone away?
Ugh! I am too young to deal with this.
~~
"Hey mom!" I dropped my bag by the kitchen counter. "Hi sweetheart! How was the English test? Good? I hope you got the 100 I was asking for!" My dad responded. I tried to stay off topic "What's dinner mom?" I asked
"We have seafood gumbo, your favourite!" She responded "Hey! What did you get in the test?"
"Um, I got 84. But it was because there were lots of things to do!"
My mom dropped the wooded stir into the pot "84?!"
"Yeah" I said as whisphery as possible
"At least she passed mom, don't put too much pressure on her. She might just one day collapse because she barely has sleep" my brother, Seth says, he is older than me and he is in the third year of college. He always wanted the best for me. He was like a "mom" to me. He tells me when to sleep and when its time to eat. "I dont think I'll be in dinner tonight" I said and picked up my bag and walked to my room.
I dropped my bag and brought out my Biology book to start studying for my quiz tomorrow.
"Another one bites the dust."
~~
It has been one and a half hours of me studying for my quiz tomorrow. It is now 6:30, the usual time that we eat dinner. "Knock, knock. Let me in, Sab" my brother said. He opened the door and I saw him holding a bowl of gumbo in his hands. "I skipped dinner, figured you need help with that." He pointed at the big and thick book I was holding. "Thanks"
