PreAuthers Note: I know the first chapter sucked and the first half of this chapter sucks too, but I promise it gets better around chapter three!

Around one in the morning I gave up, and pulled Bandit onto the bed so he would finally shut up. To repay me for the trouble He licked every inch of my face for what felt like hours before finding his way under the blankets and curling up against my bare chest to sleep. Admittedly, it wasn't bad having him around, I mean he kept me warm all night and he helped wake me up at six by attacking my alarm, knocking my clock off the table and followed it face first to the ground.
I did my normal morning routine, all with Bandits assistance of course, before stopping in the kitchen/ dinning room/ office to drink my coffee when I remembered my next problem, what was I going to do with Bandit all day? I couldn't leave him here; he would destroy my apartment, and start making that terrible noise again. I could dump him at James office and force him to watch the little guy...yeah, I'll do that.
*Thought interrupted by phone ringing*
"What do you want Dr. Sawyer?" I answered as Bandit started chewing on my big toe.
"How did last night go?" James asked sounding amused.
"You knew it shrieks like a banshee when it's left alone, didn't you?" I accused as I grabbed Bandit and my back pack before heading out the door.
"He may have done that a few times," I could hear him smiling, "Your boss called me last night as I was on my way home to ask me to check up on his daughters cat,"
"Where is this going?" I groaned know that this story was going to end in me keeping the dog longer.
"While I was there I brought up your new furry friend and Mr. Zane agreed that it would be a shame to lock him up all day when he could be out making new friends, say with wannabees psychology majors."
"I hate you."
"Well, gotta run, have a nice day!"
"James!"
Too late, James was gone and I was stuck. It's not that I had anything personal against Bandit, but college girls and noisy puppies was not my idea of a good day at work, but I didn't really have any other options, so I drove to Somnium University, five miles away from the main town with Bandit ridding shot gun.
Once we got to the campus I tried to grab Bandit and make a run for it but was attached by a swarm of girls all trying to get their hands on Bandit, though some just pretended to be petting him as they rubbed my chest. Yeah, I'm good looking and one of the youngest teachers on campus but these girls needed to learn boundaries.
Finally I made it to my class room just as students were starting to fill in. As a precaution, I didn't let Bandit down till the bell rang and I closed the door so he couldn't run away. But unexpectedly, when I put him down he didn't run around the room or greet the students, He stayed at me feet and just stared, like he was uneasy being around this many people.
"Alright class, as you can see we'll be having company today," I said pointing down at Bandit, "so I'm going to say this once, if he becomes a distraction then he will be going away. Alright, now today..."
By five my last class had ended for the day and just like it had begun, I grabbed my back pack full of assignments and Bandit and walked as fast as possible to the car and drove home. I had been pleasantly surprise at how well Bandit had behaved through out the day. Eventually he did wonder from my feet to explore the classroom and check out the students but by my third hour he just sat by my office door and watched me teach, almost like he was trying to learn as well. He didn't seem to mind when the occasional student would run up and pet him but if a student got too close to me he was immediately start growling, which was kind of cute.
When we got home I fed him, then started dinner and plopped down on the couch to watch T.V. Less then two seconds later Bandit came racing in, jumped onto the couch, and made himself at home in between my legs. Though I normally would have been irritated I found that this didn't bother me so I relaxed against the couch and petted his soft body as both our eye's fell shut.
"That's attractive," James laughed, waking Bandit and I up as he waltzed into my place with the cage in one hand and a giant bag of dog food in the other.
"Fuck off," I groaned as Bandit resettled himself in my lap before closing his eye's once more.
"So is the dog staying?"
"No."
"Then help me put him in the cage," James commanded.
Sighing, I bent down to grab Bandit but he bolted from my lap and ran toward the bedroom. James and I chased after him but he was quicker. He slid under the bed, plopping down directly in the middle so no matter what, we couldn't reach him. We both tried calling him to us but he just sat there, wiggling his tail with his tongue sticking out to mock us.
"I take it he wants to stay," James teased as he got up off the floor and brushed the dust off him.
"He can't stay"
"Why not," James whined like a child as he plopped down on the bed he once called his own. Yeah, we dated for a while but this got awkward after a while so we decided to just go back to being friend, and so far it's been great, though every now and then I do miss him.
"Because I can't, my life isn't suitable for a puppy," I stressed but I knew it was falling on deft ears.
"Maybe give it a little longer to see?"
After he said this a little wet tongue started wetting the back of my ankle followed by a small serenade of whines that broke me into submission.
"Fine, one week. After that, if it still doesn't work out, he's going back and you can't say anything about it," I stressed, making James break out a wicked smile.
"Deal."
