(Two Months Later)
I got use to life with Bandit fast, to the point where I couldn't imagine waking up without him curled up by my chest ever again, but something was wrong. At first it seemed like my imagination but I knew it wasn't when even James and a few of my students began to comment on just how fast Bandit was growing. The first week was the most noticeable, he went from being the size of a cereal box to standing at two feet tall. By the third week he was to my knee, his fur turned from tan to amber and his whimpers got deeper in tone. But aside form his accelerated growth that James assured me I could do nothing to stop, he was the same pup. He still took showers with me, licked my ankles and whined when he was upset, and still seemed to find the best seat in the house was in between my legs.
After two months his unexplainable growth had slowed though the three month old pup was now the size of a one year old husky with the face and fur of a pit bull. It was Friday night, I had just come home from a meeting about sexual harassment in the work place to find Bandit waiting by the door in the exact spot I had left him in. As usual, we took a shower and headed to bed, with him curled up in my chest with my head resting on his shoulder blades.
(Bandit's Point of View)
I was curled up in my masters arms like I am every night when something low in my tummy began to ache. I didn't want to upset my master so I tried to get up and leave the room but the pain over took me. It traveled from my tummy to my limbs and circled back, over and over again forcing my bones to move out of its way. I couldn't stop the noises coming from me as I body burned and cracked. It felt like my body couldn't decide if it wanted to explode or implode so it chose both. Then it all stopped, and everything was cold, and foreign. I tried to look down at my body but what I saw wasn't me, it was better.
"What the..." My head whipped to the right to see my master standing there, giving me a look that I didn't like. Nothing about it said this were okay, and it was probably my fault so I did what I was use to, I tried to crawl over to him to lick his chin, but my body wouldn't obey. My limbs where in the wrong place and my fur was gone, except for on my head. I couldn't understand stand what was going on until it hit me, I look like my master now. Not exactly, where he had muscles I seemed to be just skin and bones but my body was the same shape as his, and the people he always was around in the big round room (classroom). This made me happy, but still didn't explain anything.
"Bandit," My master asked in a shaky voice, like he didn't know it was me.
"Ghawldsh," I tried to reply like I always heard the man in the white coat (James) do when master asked him a question but I couldn't get anything tangible out.
Once again I tried to move toward him but everything ached and I just ended up falling on my face. This time he didn't asked me any more questions, instead he got back in the bed and wrapped me up in the thick blankets which made my world stop shaking just a little. I'm not sure how long he held me in the blankets but eventually he said something else and grabbed the small meddle thing that always made so much noise in the mornings but I didn't care. What ever was happening to me, I trusted my master to fix, so I let my eye's close as I drifted back to sleep.
