My nineteenth birthday is in two days. Along with ten thousand other young men and women, I'll be tested by my Observer, I'll be placed, and I'll be happy. Hopefully. I have small clues of where I will be placed. Most people do. Then again, just because we're good at something doesn't mean it's right for us. I stand here, leaning on the railing of our balcony, high above the city, wondering where I will be placed. My name is Annie Kleckner. And I have no idea who I am.
