TURLOUGH: DESCENT TO REDEMPTION

EPISODE 3 - Shattered

Ext. - Space

FX - We swoop through space, gracefully flying in a lazy circle. First a yellow sun passes, then round, round until we see an asteroid field. Slowing as we still turn and a planet, oceans and red deserts with sparse vegetation, comes into view.

Slower, turning still, and we slow to a stop on the hull of a ship. Big, dark and menacing. The ship is tube like with a tunnel type thing passing through the entire ship and a battery of cannon at the front.

The ship is heading towards the planet.

Int. - Ship - Command Deck

A heavily armoured warrior marches to the centre of the command deck. He is lizard-like, protruding mouth with sharp teeth, brown scaly skin, forward facing eyes. A hunter species. A predator. The Chataa.

The warrior marches to a taller Chataa warrior stood with his hands clasped behind him, staring up at a view screen showing the asteroid surrounded planet.

WARRIOR:

General DIRAK, Sir.

The WARRIOR waits for a second but gets no response, so ...

WARRIOR (cont):

We'll be in orbit of the planet within ten minutes.

And ... and we'll be able to begin mining operations within the day.

Still no response ...

WARRIOR (cont):

Your orders, Sir, if we meet resistance?

There is finally a response from General DIRAK as he turns his head, slightly, and speaks over his shoulder to the WARRIOR.

DIRAK:

(quietly) Then we shall use the mass driver ...

(pause)

and bombard them into extinction.

Ext. - Space

FX - Outside of the Chataa ship and we see small "tug" ships maneuvering an asteroid into the rear opening of the ship. As the asteroid gets close to the opening, lightning type effects reach out, magnetically pulling the asteroid in.

Passing the asteroid, we enter the tube and see that the ship is pointing directly at the planet below.

TITLES.

Int. - Venture Cockpit

TURLOUGH is at the controls. The Venture looks almost new after its recent refit.

FX - Outside the cockpit window, the swirling time vortex.

TURLOUGH:

(shouts) We should be coming out of the time jump soon.

Anybody want to see where we end up?

Int. - Venture Transmat Room

VILA and XAZI are sat across the table from each other. We alternate between close-ups; VILA's face, XAZI's face, VILA squinting, XAZI squinting.

Wider shot as we see XAZI throw a pair of playing cards on to the table, disgusted.

XAZI:

Fold.

VILA throws her hands up and lets out a whoop, then leans over and shovels all the chips on the table towards her with her hands.
