Author's note: I decided to add my story to this collection. I hope you enjoy.
I’m more than that girl you see
I’m more than what my exterior shows
Look into my eyes and see
The real me no one sees.
I’m more than that faded smile
Or dried up tears
Or that laughing child.
Look pass my false mask,
Look into my soul.
I’m more than that sprinter in bright colors
I’m more than who you see
Look into my eyes and see
The pain I’m concealing.
Listen pass my laughs of joy
Listen closely
I’m more than what you hear.
When I cry, it’s from pain
I’m crying for help
But do you hear me?
Do you hear what I’m saying?
You say you know me,
But do you really?
Can you tell
My smile is faded,
Or my laughs are forced?
Can you hear me
Crying out in pain,
Or crying for help?
Can you see
Pass the bright colors I wear
Or pass the false front?
Can you look inside
And see
A scarred heart,
Broken dreams,
A battered soul?
Can you see
The me I don’t show?
Can you look at me
And honestly say
You know me?
I say no!
You don’t know
The real me,
Very few people do.
Look into my eyes
Do you see my pain?
Do you see me?
You say you know me,
But yet you don’t.
You can know me for years,
But still all you can know
Is my false mask.
Let me introduce myself
I’m that loner,
That girl in the corner
All alone in tears.
People always ignore me,
Not knowing why I cry.
I’m a burden
To everyone,
I bother people
With all my problems.
I’m a complainer,
Apparently I complain too much.
I’m a bitch
According to some
I have a tendency
To beat myself up,
I have a low self-esteem
I’m the loner
In a corner,
The silent child
Who changed too much,
I sit in tears
Without anyone caring.
You say you know me,
But you don’t know
The real me
No one sees…
You gave up
Trying to know me
I was too much for you
I scared you away
Like so many others before
My problems were too much
The real me too scary
You gave up on me
You let me fall
Without catching me.
But still you say
You know me
When truthfully you do not.
