The war had finally returned. Even though it was once forgotten, and all those involved had tried to forget. The world was once again thrown into a war. Everyone had forgotten and the stories that were told for generations had finally ended, Except for one. My father had passed down the last stories and I knew he had hoped that I would continue to pass down the legend of my great grandfather. And I knew that I would teach my kids the stories and make sure they knew that this was not a tale, that this was our world. This was our past and it would always be a history of our world.

My father always told me that one day the war may return and we would have to gather the greatest magicians in the world and fight once again. But there was always something my dad always made sure I knew. He would get completely serious. He told me if the war had ever returned many would die. And that even I may not survive. I was raised knowing everyday may be my last, that every day is another chance to survive.

My dad was in the middle of his story. He was telling me just how the war had begun. How my great grandfather had been a part of a group of mercenaries, how he had been set up. How he had set him free. No one held it against him. No one thought he was responsible for the freeing of the devil, no one but him. He was the only one that thought it was his fault. Everyone knew that he was tricked. He was attacked and he fought to the last man.

He found out that he was outmatched. But before they could be overrun he felt this power inside him. He turned his blade a bright crimson red and fought all of them. He survived and marched down to the devils doors. Here the battle went on and on. Blow after blow was dealt and my great grandfather, Gelb, fought with his life. As he thought he had won, he walked out of the hallows and escaped. But as he was about to leave the devil had taken him. He was attacked and he was unconscious. The clan took him underground, where they hid for years. But one day the devil found them.

That’s where the story ended. The ground shook and the world, as we 21st century citizens knew it, ended. The devil that had stood underground all these years was back, with a vengeance. He was going to show the world just what fear was. He was going to show just what hell was like. You know how people say their life is a living hell? I’ll tell you they have no idea what hell is. Not yet, But they will.
