Tili Tili Bom (An Avengers fanfic)

Prologue

"Racks?"

He mumbled.

"Racks, you awake?

"Racks, you're scaring me. Wake up. They brought food."

He rolled over on his bed.

"Well, if there's food involved..." I laughed. Racks always knew how to make me laugh. Even on freeze days he managed to get a giggle out of me.

I hugged my knees to my chest. Speaking of freeze days... "They're putting me away today. My cycle's over. I've been out too long." Racks swung his legs over his cot and gave me a tight hug. I could feel his heat through my nightie. "It's okay, Char. You've done it before, you'll do it again. A little ice can't hurt you."

I hate being cold.

"Racks, will you please sing my song?" He hugged me tighter and he began to rasp out the words of the lullaby.

It didn't leave my head as they came for me or as the ice coated the window or as I slept, murmuring the words of the monster song.
