The Secret

Tomari

I swear his eyes darkened as he watched me eat. I couldn't help but grin at him. He lived for my pleasure? That's so sweet, I thought as I chewed the last bit of pancake. All that was left were crackers, banana chips, bread, and tea. I popped a piece of bread into my mouth, and then took a sip of tea.

"What is it, Princess?" Tori asked when I groaned. Freaking Sundays.

"You know, when we're alone like this you don't have to speak to me so formally. We're around the same age." I sighed at the look he gave me. It said he would never comply. "I have school tomorrow."

"You do not want to go?"

I shook my head. "Part of me does, but the rest of me doesn't. I just want to sleep." I popped another piece of bread. "But you know, I haven't seen Z and Alan in a while so I really have no choice."

"Z and Alan?"

I bit into a cracker. "Yeah. They're my friends. Humans." He nodded as if understanding. "I feel kind of guilty though." I don't know what made me admit it, and I'm not sure why I was telling him this instead of Devlyn. It was better not to think about it at the moment.

"About what?"

"They don't know what I am or what I can do." I popped a banana chip in my mouth. "Not to mention the school. Its like I'm lying to them. They should know. Especially Z." By the time he spoke the crackers were gone.

"Do you love him?"

I shook my head, a small smile on my face. "No. He's just a really good friend of mine. He is the first real friend I've ever had." I downed the rest of the tea. "Whenever I keep things from him he gets really upset, so I don't like keeping things from him." He didn't say anything so I changed the subject. "What do you do while I'm at school anyway?"

"Wait for you to return, Mistress." He said it as if it was obvious. I smirked.

"Sounds boring."

"Actually, it is not boring. There are lots of things I have to do as both your servant and guardian. Such things including," he continued when I cocked my head in curiosity. "training, getting new recipes, and so on."

Training, huh. Later on I will ask him if he'd spar with me. Not sure what else to say I shoved a couple more chips into my mouth. I've never been good at starting conversations. In fact, I sucked at it. One of the reasons why I didn't make much friends was this reason. I decided to eat the rest of my food in silence.

"Thanks again, Tori."

"I am always here when you need me, Mistress." he replied as he took my tray and headed out the room. I didn't bother thinking about his words. Or at least, I tried not to. I listened to his footsteps as the retreated down the hallway. Not even a minute had passed before a knock sounded at my door.

"Its o-" The door opened and then shut. "-pen." I finished, frowning as Devlyn walked over to me without a word. His body posture said he was tensed. I stayed sitting down, waiting for him to speak. Most Alphas would stand when another one is in the room. I wasn't like that unless it was someone I didn't like. Otherwise I didn't feel the need to show my dominance right off the back.

He seemed to want to say something yet he made no move to speak. He just stood at my feet, watching me through coffee colored eyes. I let out breath. Had I done something wrong? Was he so angry at me that he couldn't let out a sound? But what had I done to piss him off? Panic pierced my stomach. Did he know about Tori? Did he find out that Tori may be my mate instead of him? I slowly exhaled. Calm down, Tomari. Its not good to jump to conclusions. I could just use the bond to find out what angered him.
