MIDNIGHT [6]

[dedicated to Dea for being an inspiration]

Everything had been good so far. Both of them loved each other and there was nearly nothing that could separate them. Every night they would come here and lie down in each other's arms while staring at us and we couldn't help but blush a little. 

That night when they laid on the green grass, things were a bit different. His eyes were closed and his breaths were heavy. And her heartbeat was racing as she saw his tensed look.

"What's wrong?"

And he opened his eyes. 

"Daniel?"

He turned around to face her and looked into her eyes. He could see how much she loved him and could understand the pain he had put her through. 

"Tell me."

"Sarah?"

As he spoke,a tear rolled down his cheek and this time it was her heart which shattered into a million pieces.

"Daniel? What's wrong?"

"I am sorry. But.."

"But what? And what are you sorry for?"

"I am leaving."

And she finally let go those teardrops which she had been holding all this while. 

"I am so sorry. I don't want to but I'll have to. I know I promised you but maybe Sarah we are not meant to be together. I mean look at you. You are the daughter of the ex-mayor and me? I am just a worker. You are so beautiful and I have got no looks. You are just perfect and I am nowhere near that word. The society talks about you. They call you with different names. They disrespect you. And it is all because of ..."

She suddenly pressed her lips on his. Their lips moved in complete sync with the tongues exploring each other's mouth. His hands were wrapped around her waist and she had her fingers intermingled in his hair. She was now lying on top of him.

They drifted apart after some time but their foreheads still rested on each other's. 

"You and me are meant to be."

And with that she rested her head on his chests while he hugged her tight and together they slept.
