Chapter 1:
"Party at my place!" Leah, one of the most popular girls in our school shouted. The popular kids cheered on their side of the class room. Her boyfriend, Liam Payne kissed her on the lips and she started kissing him back. I rolled my eyes. Gross. This party thing was an every month thing. Of course I wasn't invited; I was supposedly a "loser" even though I was her step-sister. She told me to stay in my room every time she had a party. Her dad spoiled her so badly and she was daddy's little brat. My mom married her dad a few years ago which started the worst years of my life.
"I'm never invited to a party", my best friend Matty groaned and said.
"Honestly I don't want to go to a party like that" I told him and rolled my eyes again.
"Why?" He asked.
"Why? Because they're all obnoxious, arrogant terds" I whisper-shouted to him.
"Class it's time to present your projects" Our teacher, Mr. Ross told us. Everyone scrambled around in their desks, trying to find their essays. I had my 5 pages neatly stacked on my desk. I was a good student.
"First up is Liam and Leah" Mr. Ross called out. I was ready for their presentation. Liam had come to our house to put together the project and all they did was snog and do who knows what because all I heard were moans and other comments. I heard nothing intellectual at all. I was ready to watch them make a fool of themselves.
What happened next took me by surprise. Leah started her project essay and it had the same exact ideas as mine and Matty's except the words were rearranged! I raised my hand urgently and wiggled in my chair. Mr. Ross gave me a familiar look saying to wait until they were done. I looked at Matty and he had realized that they copied us too, so he had his hand raised like mine. I stared at Leah, anger flowing through my veins. Matty and I had worked so hard on our essay. Leah handed the paper to Liam and he continued. I stared at Leah and she noticed me, sending me a small smirk and shrugging. Liam finished the essay and gave the class a small smile, his eyes traveling to me last. I rolled my eyes at him and he looked offended.
"Excellent Miss Payne and Miss Quinn. You may take your seats. Miss Crowley what's the problem?" Mr. Ross asked me raising his eyebrow in question.
"They copied us! They just rearranged the words!" I told him my voice raising above its normal volume. I usually was the shy girl in my school.
"Yeah they did Mr. Ross" Matty told him.
"Hmm. Meet me after class. You guys too." Mr. Ross said to me, Matty, Leah and Liam. We nodded our heads and after seeing some more presentations, the bell rung and I gathered my stuff. I looked back at Leah and Liam to see them arguing. Liam hissed and got angry and slammed his book on his desk. Leah jumped and tried to soothe him, but he walked away from her with his teeth clenched. What had they been arguing about? I turned my attention to Matty and I felt someone collide with me. I dropped my books and bent down to pick them up. The other person did the same helping me gather my books. I looked up to see no other than bad boy, Liam Payne. He put the books into my hands and mumbled a sorry as he brushed past me. I stared at him as he left. He actually talked to me today. I kind of had a crush on Liam from the second grade...In second grade, Liam had been a good kid and I'd admired him for that. But he was always bullied. I observed him for a few years. Then in 6th grade he came back from summer break as a new Liam. The bad boy Liam. I could see that the old him was still buried deep inside him. The good Liam still existed as that was the Liam I had a crush on.

The music blared from the speakers down below in our living room. My step-sister was making preparations for her party. I sighed as I sat in my room typing away on my computer. Mr.Ross didn't know who to believe so he assigned us all another short topic to write on.
I heard a beep from my phone and it was a text from Matty.
From: The most awesome person on the planet a.k.a Matty
I'm coming over
I replied to him with a simple "K". Him and I had been best friends since the third grade when he moved here. He was like my brother. It only took him 5 minutes to get to my house, climb up a tree and jump onto my balcony from the tree. He lived only a block away from me and had jogged over here.
Matty was well-built with large muscles and strong arms. He had short, dark brown hair and sparkling blue eyes.
"Wassup my hoe?" He asked me and jumped on my bed beside me. I knew he was kidding, because we always joked around like that.
"Shut up Matty. I'm trying to finish this" I told him and showed him my baby, blue laptop.
"C'mon Cris you have plenty of time for that all weekend" he told me and shut my laptop.
"Matty" I whined in protest.
"You need to chill babe" Matty said patting my back and jumping off my soft, fluffy bed. He ran a hand through his spiked up hair that he probably used gel. Then he straightened his black leather jacket.
"What's with the get up?" I smirked, raising my eyebrows. He looked... Well attractive tonight. For once.. (Shh don't tell him I said that)
"I plan on getting a girl tonight" he said looking in my mirror and smiling cheesily.
"Oh well good luck with that" I said and opened my novel.
"Crystal Crowley you are not going to stay in your room and read some stupid book" he said grabbing my romance novel from my hands.
“But” I protested, but he interrupted me saying, “Go put on something nice! We are going to that party.” Matty ordered.
“But Leah…” I said.
“Oh she won’t find out. She’ll be too busy drinking and snogging boys to notice.” Matty said and went to my closet. He looked at my clothes and I saw his eyes light up at one piece of clothing.
“Here, wear this.” He said throwing the dress of his choice at me.
I shook my head looking at the tight, strapless red dress that my step-father had gotten me as a present. My step-father was a man who loved to party, drink, and have one-night stands. I had known that the minute I saw him, but my mom was too blind in love to see it. Although, lately I kind of think my step father really is in love with mom. Can’t blame him, my mom’s pretty attractive. Beach blonde hair, nice body, and naturally beautiful.
“I’m not wearing this” I told Matty shaking my head again.
“You’re just chicken.” Matty said his eyes shining in mischief, because he knew he had hit a weak spot. I was never chicken. Ever.
“Fine” I said, grunted and walked off into my bathroom. I stripped and slipped into the tight dress. I brushed my straight, hazelnut colored hair, applied lip gloss and mascara. When I looked in my full-body mirror, I gasped. The dress hugged all my curves and added to my petite figure. I added black pumps that made my legs look immensely taller and nicer. The dress came to mid-thigh and I was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. I was normally the girl who didn’t talk to anybody and did her work quietly in the corner. I took my glasses off and switched them with clear contact lenses over my dull, brown eyes.
I walked out of the bathroom, making sure I didn’t fall, because of my three-inch heels. I heard Matty say “Finally” but when he turned around he gave me a low wolf whistle. I blushed and smiled shyly.
“You look stunning Ci-Ci” he told me.
"Don’t call me that” I snapped at him and walked out of my room.
“Ci-Ci” Matty nagged as we descended the stairs to the party. I hated when he called me that. Ci-Ci came from my name. Crystal Crowley. I hated it, because it reminded me of my last name which reminded me of my dad. He had died a few years ago…
As soon as we walked down the steps everyone’s eyes fell to us. Some kept staring and some turned away. We heard whispering and some people had recognized us. Some people didn’t believe them. Girls were flirting with Matty and he had left me. Guys were staring at me and I felt so self-conscious. We just put on nice clothes and suddenly everybody loved us! So pathetic.
The music was so loud it pounded in my ears. I decided I needed something to drink. I made my way to the kitchen. There was a horrible stench coming from in there. I saw there was puke on the floor and I gagged. That is so gross. I went over to the punch bowl and poured me a drink. A took a sip and there was a bitter taste. I poured it down the sink. What type of punch was that?
I walked to the main room and stood by the corner. I shouldn’t have come. Then I saw Leah and I scurried away trying to hide from her. I collided with someone trying to walk away. I looked up to see no other than Liam.
“Hey babe what’s your name?” He slurred, his eyes trailing down my body. He didn’t even recognize me!
“Uh I think you’ve had too much to drink” I said to him. I was surprised from his next actions. He grabbed my hips and moved me closer to him. He started kissing my neck and jaw. I unconsciously let out a moan and I saw him smile. Then I came back down to Earth and realized what was happening. I pushed him off of me and stormed out the house. I heard him whine and say “Hey”.
My legs took action and I ran out to my backyard and stood in front of our little lake. He decides to notice me now, I thought and shook my head. I felt a tear slip down my cheek. I heard footsteps and I turned around to see Liam following me.
“Go away” I said, sobbing and I felt his hands on my shoulder as he turned me around to look at him.
“Crystal?” He asked and I nodded my head.
“You look gorgeous babe” He said giving me his signature smile that made girls in my school go crazy. It didn’t work on me, though. He couldn’t lure me into his trap. No matter how much I liked him, I wasn’t going to make any mistakes.
He walked closer to me and started to lean in. I gave in for a second but I realized what he was trying to do so I swatted him away.
“What’s your problem? I know you’ve had a crush on me since like forever" He said. So he knew? Was it that obvious?
"I-I" I stuttered and said. That was all that came out of my mouth.
"C'mon you aren't afraid are you?" He asked. I was never afraid. I shook my head and he came closer to me. I backed up taking small steps. He came even closer and I walked backwards.
He pressed his lips onto mine and I took one more step backwards and felt my feet give way.
I hit the cold, icy water of our lake and water instantly flooded through my nose and lungs.
I squirmed like a snake my hands reaching for the surface. The surface felt so distant now. I was falling. I was sinking. My heart rate was diminishing and my eyes could no longer stay open. My life flashed before my eyes and I knew what was going to happen next. I had experienced this feeling quite a few times in life. So I greeted Death like an old friend, but before he could snatch me away, I saw a pair of beautiful melted-chocolate colored eyes. And that was the last thing I remembered.Note: How was it? I need feedback guyssss.
